      I have a 2006 3.0i sport package. If you are in the market for an X5 around or over 100k miles, dont expect to have a reliable daily driver. However, if you have the patience and ability to perform regular maintenance and minor to intermediate repairs, you will have a fun and all weather capable vehicle that also makes a great weekend ride. I would keep an older one under 5k miles a year though.

      Love German cars , I Own a BMW X5 and trust me in 6 years I only spent 1300 dollars in repairs, it was a tune up and replace the coils and some regulators for the windows ,after that 500 dollars for break parts; If u add the cost and the break pads divided in 6 years plus oil changes we are talking around less than 600 dollars maintenance per year , mine is 2004 with 144 xxx miles on it and still running like a champ. I had a Honda Accord 2010 and I did spend more money in that car that in the BMW ......I don’t understand why people still saying this is a bad car......you want to drive a horrible car buy a Hyundai and then we talk Thanks for reading.

      Excellent car.
      I have never had problems with it. 240 000km on it now (about 145k miles).
      No oil leaks, transmission is great, everything works.
      Sport package comes with stiff suspension/shocks. Not very comfortable but handling is outstanding.
      I had 8 mercs and this is my first bmw, but not the last.

      @WheelsTV, the car in the video is a 2004 BMW X5 4.4i, with 320hp. Between 2003-2004, the 4.4i V8 engine was updated.

      According to BMW mechanics, my own experience (01), and reports all over the internet show the X5 is one of the worst vehicles BMW has ever produced. The BMW mechanics tell every own to run away from the v8. Do not buy this car.

      The 3.0i has m54b30; the same engine as the e46 330i. It's one of the most reliable engines BMW has ever made.

      All of them are sub par for BMW and the mechanics say to run from all of them, especially the V8. The mechanics say the x5 is good for 80k miles, but after that you better get a second job.

      It's a great car to have and drive. But 10 years into it's life cycle, and it costs more to repair than to trade in.

      This is the most troublesome car I have owned, from oil leaks, failed air con compressor, failed electric Windows, failed led dash lights, all at 100k. Drives great & comfortable but bring your chequebook

      +이지은 They are in two different classes, the BMW is a better, "higher quality" car all around. Personally I like the X5 3.0 turbo diesel (not reviewed here) the best, however if you want power and performance, the V8 is the way to go.
