Optioned similarly, there is NOT a $14,000 difference between the two trucks! You could get a lower optioned 3.5L ecoboost for significantly less.

It's funny that American car manufacturers are just learning what the Japanese have known for decades. You dont need 8 pistons to make big power.

Ken Waddle if you want real reliability and power at higher elevations, yeah. Yeah you really do need 8 pistons.

The sounds augmentation is gross! As a gear head it’s offensive. I’d much rather hear the engine and turbos working. Great review!

Some still may think or assume that the 2.7 is just too small.
Just drive one. Has the get up and go of a big block but gets 25mpg on highway (quite easily) w 10 speed and 21mpg round town. Better that the ratings.

I have the 2.7 in my 18 f150. Best engine I've ever had. My god its fast... The 3.5 is a respectable engine for sure, but it is getting pushed out of the lineup by the 2.7. I think people are going to either want the 5.0 or the 2.7 in the f150. Leave the diesel engines for the f250.

My 2011 5.0 makes my dad's 2.7 look like a baby. His 2018 is a joke!! I pull a 27 foot TT T bunch house and we are looking for him a 15 to 16 foot to stay within limits on the stickers

I still would rather have a v8. I know the 3.5 is more than capable hell even the 2.7 is more than enough for most people but I just have more faith in a good old fashioned American v8 to keep going and never stop

Although that 2.7 is impressive I agree with Robert Greenlee. you are comparing 2 different trucks ,Gear ratio and also the 2.7 was a super cab against a super crew which might add to the 3.5 feeling more sluggish.

Well maybe if you had compared the same body style trucks we could have come to a reasonable conclusion. But an extended cab FX4 and a crew cab King Ranch are totally different. Shit test. Try again.

I just got my 2017 f150 xl 2.7 ecoboost today after watching many tow videos of this engine. I have had 3 silverados(well one 2500 sierra) and the torque and hp numbers of these ford motors were impressing me, and the videos impressed me in that they were not being doggy when pulling. I travel doing welding and pull an 18 foot camper. Was doing it with my Silverado 4.3 stick shift, and it pulled it fine, i would just get 16 mpg when not pulling. After driving the 2.7 i was impressed to the point I ended up purchasing it. Also got $4050 in rebates from ford so got a very good deal. Thank you guys for your work. You made me feel a lot better about my purchase decision as well as help me make it with your tow videos. (I even drove an ecodiesel which was VERY nice, i just didnt want to pay the price they wanted)
