Once again. Not prepared for the review. There will be no LS600h, they will not use this engine in a hybrid powertrain due to the excessive torque of the engine. The limitation of the required CVT gearbox is that it can not handle huge torque. Simple as that. 350 NM is around the limit of this type of gearbox, 600 NM coming directly from the ICE is way too much to handle. So you should prepare better before making silly predictions.

Who cares about 0-100 in a land barge that is dead comfy and effortless at 265km/h. You would cross most of Eu in a day and feel refreshed at the end of it. Wonderful car.

This video changed my impression of the twin turbo V6 being used in place of a new naturally aspirated V8 for this car. Maybe a new GS will get this motor also.

Johnson Taylor In reply to tellucas

tellucas Indeed. Sedans aren’t selling as much as they used to. Lexus already has far too many sedans and is planning on for the ES to replace the GS as the midsize sedan to compliment both the IS and the LS.

+Johnson Taylor that seems to be the way sedans are going right now, i think the E class and 5 series are not selling well either. People in general now favor the utility of crossovers over the driving dynamics of a perfomance sedan.

I Am Fernando This doesn’t depreciate at all. The German trash cars do. 10 yrs from now this one would still be operating flawlessly while it’s German counter parts are falling into pieces.

Wow, that driving, those speeds. I would have asked you to let me out on the side of the road. That's a luxury car. I would have expected to get to my destination relaxed and in comfort. Nothing else. If I have the money to have this car. I would not need to impress anyone else. Maybe you(anyone who expects to drive this car in this way) should be driving a motorcycle.

for everyone out there, regarding the engine of the 10 years old engine LEXUS makes pure philosophy is continuous quality development - and engine that lasts for decades - if it works don't touch it! while German cars are fully high teched high pitched - drive train will fall in the 1st 100k km

I hear what you're saying man, it's a nice car and all, but the interior isn't up to snuff. The previous Lexus LS interior was nicer. Also, this is positioned against the S-class and other German bigwigs which have much nicer interiors and more throaty, robust engines. People will rave about the Japanese reliability and intuitiveness, but that might not be all that relevant on a three year lease. It should be more like a four door LC type feel if it had the F Sport package. Cool review.

Fair points. I hear ya. Let the Germans and Japanese manufacturers battle it out. Competition only makes the cars better and more exciting! Peace!

Leroy Brown I wasn’t talking abt subjective. I’m talking abt objective. You can have your own opinion abt its asthetics, but that’s not my point. Objectively, it’s right up there, perhaps even better than the Germans. Do you know any manufacturer in the industry that does cut glass trims and cloth pleats in their cars like the LS? Or for that matter, do you know car that has hand stitched leather around the gauge cluster? You have to just sit in one in the light to appreciate the leathers, wood, or even the glass trims. On top of that, when did I say they don’t have recalls? But at any rate, recall doesn’t mean anything to the overall durability of the car itself. But building from that, how many recalls are there compared to cars built? Lexus/Toyota build millions of cars and only a few recalls were ever called upon, usually something to do with faulty second hand manufacturers like Takada airbags or user error like the foot pedal. None of which is like the Ford gas chamber explorer or the exploding eco-boost engines for example.

From your response, I suppose you've sat in all the competing cars and former ones? Interior/exterior design is a matter of taste. I'm not disparaging Lexus, they've earned their stripes for sure. I'm just noting that the interior doesn't strike me as attractive as previous LS(s) or German counter-parts. To borrow from Johnny L. at Motortrend, an interior should comprise of wood, high quality metal and leather. The order of those three materials is mine. Reliability? The Japanese autos get recalls too. Gimme an ES over this and I'll save a few bucks in the process. Thank you for your response, by the way.

    • Huy Thai
Huy Thai In reply to Leroy Brown

Leroy Brown don’t say the interior of the car is not as nice as the Germans before you sat in one. Imo it is far better than the majority of the competition. 7 series is old, the S-class is getting a redesign but it’s interior is inferior as of late, and the A8 is just pure black plastic monstrosity. Say all you want about the engine too, you can’t say the comparable luxury sedans can last as long, deliver this much power without sacrificing smoothness or reliability for a v6. People who lease expensive luxury flap ships are posers, not actual ballers.
