Brother Frankie, Padilla, your absolutely correct, I own a 2003 Land Rover Discovery II, and wouldn't trade it for the world, its the undisputed sovereign of four by fours. I've had to make some now and then costly repairs but, it was well worth it, as the dynamics of this truck are unique, and unlike any other in its class proven time and again. I highly recommend getting one, as they are easy to find, at any auction or used car lot, and build it up, into the perfect off road beast.

Hello, what are the repairs you had on it? I am offered a 2003 se with 35000 km only. Been kept in the garage for long time. I m hesitant about it. Need to know the cons about this vehicle. What is your overall feedback

After owning a couple discos and a couple jeeps i can say that the rovers so far are about the same when it comes to reliability.

thx for clearing that up. years of research , my conclusion, car brand/country choice is a wash.
go american, cheap but frequent repairs. go uk/german/italian, less frequent but expensive repairs.
go asian, rare but expensive repairs.might as well buy what you love, either used once the depreciation bottoms out, or new that holds value well, or lease new lux as business expense.
for me, my emotional choice is the LR Disco II / sensible choice : FJ Cruiser,
mad man choice : Jeep JK Unltd / rich guy choice: Benz G-Wagen AMG.
Rather not deal w/ loan note. LR, even w/ expensive costs to own, Id rather a pricey repair here and there, than face certain loan debt lock for years. Rather own in my name asap.
Such a low price, not a huge commitment, not married to it. Gets out of hand, sell it off or part it out, I suppose.
Obviously price so low to account for pricey maintenance, repairs and bad reputation.
this is an emotional vintage purchase tho', gotta pay to play, either way.

Ive owned only Japanese imports, Infiniti and Lexus. Im half Japanese myself. I love the reliability, but they are boring.
The later models of Japanese cars lately, the manufacturing has been outsourced to non-Japanese workers who haven't been taught the KAIZEN quality control system that makes Japan autos so great, so theyve lost their edge.
I am highly intrigued by Land Rover, Audi, Porsche, and Lamborghini. They set the tone for the entire auto industry who copy them. Despite its sketchy reputation with age, Im getting a DII for its Defender / British version of G Wagen spirit.

Why are the fog lights on?  Front (2 round lights in bumper) and rear.  It's clearly sunny.  Also, why is the left rear fog light not working?  Used to have a 2003 Disco 2 (and a 2001 and a '99 and two Disco 1s) and the rear fogs were a pair.  Great to see a tidy model going off road though.

Nah. Not all cars sold in the US have rear fog lights. Kind of rare actually, mostly a European car thing.

The rear fog light on the right side bumper, is that mandatory in the USA?
