More than 20 years after it landed in America, the 2019 Toyota RAV4 has become an absolute cornerstone of the company's lineup. It’s the best-selling model in its class AND the Japanese automaker’s most popular nameplate, with nearly 408,000 delivered in the U.S. in 2017.

For 2019, this utility vehicle is all new from the ground up, riding on the ubiquitous TNGA architecture, a foundation that’s far stiffer and provides higher quality, improved comfort and even more versatility. With tasteful-but-aggressive styling, improved acceleration and reduced fuel consumption, what’s not to like?

Howdy, folks! Just to clarify, hybrid RAV4s only have ONE electric motor driving the rear wheels, NOT TWO as I stated in this video. Please forgive me. Clearly, I have no idea what I’m talking about!

      Thanks!

It would be nice if it did though. MDX Hybrid could use a smaller competitor.

Love the new Rav4 but it’s very snug and tight inside. Surprised that Toyota would exclude tall and heavy people from their best seller. And $39k and no power passenger seat.

I recently bought 2019 RAV-4 XLE Hybrid. After I bought the car, I noticed the car makes sort of loud high pitch noise when I put the gear in reverse. When I told the dealer about it, they told me it's normal and all the hybrid cars make that noise. Did you notice any noises in the reverse gear when you did the test drive? Thank you,

The engine is noisy on start up in the Limited trim. Could this be due in part to no under hood sound deadener? Other than obvious cost cutting why would Toyota do this?

I have to agree with the comment below: are the seats comfortable? I've sat in several trims and found the driver's seat head rest uncomfortable.
      Any comments out there?

Get a cx5 with the turbo. Less mileage but so much more fun to drive and much better looking.

Some of us don't base our identity and uniqueness on our fucking cars. Do people only "look at you" because of the car you drive? That's pretty...sad. It's also sad that you'd base your car buying decision on how much attention you think you'd get. Anyway, out of curiosity, which car would you recommend someone get, that fits your criteria?

$26k for a base trim? When will people realize they don’t need SUVs or crossovers. Sedans, hatchbacks and wagons will do just fine and cost less. 🙄

all USA built Toyota vehicles made with light sheet of metal , no sound deadening materiel inside in door nor internal floor make these vehicles louder pretty louder and yes audio system is cheap too the amplifier they use its pretty bad to provide sound to the speakers , now Toyota jump to CVT to save gas on Rav 4 and coming to other cars too , and calling off road rav 4 , such a joke .
Toyota reliability is going off the track , complex engine and engineering not cool these things cant go longer

Love toyotas and Im considering trading in my new CHR for this around this time next year...but....
What is with toyota and these crap tires??
My CHR has shit tires that im already looking to fully replace especially with the snow season here....
And all these videos of the new Rav 4 show them with what looks to be tires with little to no grip.

Looks like if I get the Rav 4 Ill be getting the dealer to replace the tires before I buy it.
Sad for a brand new car to worry about tires....

Edit: Come to find out my CHR that I bought here in New England was sold to me with Summer Sport tires. lol. Ya so had to spend 800 bucks to get all new tires on a brand new vehicle that Ive only put 20k miles on. Also....Dunlop sucks Toyota...stop using them. :-)

Awesome review as always. Kudos to Toyota for not putting a CVT Transmission in the RAV4 and allowing you to uncouple the rear diff but what is it with this giant front grill trend? It's ugly! You could run a Bugatti Veyron engine in this thing and it wouldn't run hot. Jumping Jesus, enough with the big grills!
