If it competes with an XC40 that means also with an X1 and NOT an X3. X3 is in the same segment as Q5, GLC and XC60! XC40 would be X1, Q3 and GLA. So which segment is it?

I drove a Cadillac XT4 and a Lexus 350-RX. The difference in quality is amazing. Lexus and the Japanese build their cars for the long haul with constant improvement of their product. With good maintenance they will easily last 200,000 to 300,000 miles.
GM builds their cars for the short term, economizing on the quality, just to improve the bottom line. In Japan laborers and management work together.
GM doesn't work with the UAW they are always at odds with it. That tension can't help but be reflected in the build quality.
GM will never change because they don't want to. Their whole outlook is planned obsolescence and lack of attention to quality and detail.
The Japanese take great pride in their work. The Lexus brand is only built by the most experienced skilled workers.

      I just test drove it.
PRO: quieter and better ride than Lexus NX and Lexus ES350. Lots of power once you get past the turbo lag. Very nice interior with carbon fiber that has 2 colors.
CON: slight turbo lag in the first 2 seconds. My 10 year old 2008 Scion xB with a 2.4 litre naturally aspirated engine does NOT have turbo lag.

God there's a lot of people bitching about the price. I just bought the AWD Luxury version of this for 41k and don't regret anything. No one needs the stupid lane departure and ridiculous tech in the 55k model... And no one really needs the sport model. If you want to act like you're a race car driver buy a different vehicle... 41k gets you more than enough and it all feels luxurious and works great.

No mention of the Lincoln MKC, which actually comes with more standard features and technology, has more horsepower, and is several thousand dollars cheaper!? The MKC is exactly what GM is trying to compete with here, but they are afraid to mention their competition, obviously.

Come on Cadillac you can do better. The Volvo XC40 beats it hands down.

Those 'new' sculpted hood lines are recycled d school lines used ad nauseam for decades by gm.... the 2010 Camaro had them too.

      GM Voice Recognition fail
...no surprise. GM is pricing itself out of the market across almost all makes/models. Probably to compensate for their 'faux' manufacturer rebates that are ever present.

I bought a XT4 in Dec, sold it in Feb. Over all, a poor experience with my first ever Cadillac. First problem is, there is NO NEEDLE on the gas gauge, or temp gauge... Making them difficult to read while driving. There are very SMALL LIGHTS next to the gauge. I was afraid I would at some point run out of gas with this thing, and I finally did... STUPID IDEA CADILLAC... To make matters worse, the gas milage is poor and the tank size is small... So, plan on running out of gas a lot, or marry yourself to that STUPID GAS GAUGE LIGHT. Or buy a Chevy, or GMC or Honda, they still put needles on their gas gauges.... STUPID !!

If you've never seen one if these in Atlantic Blue, you are missing out. Especially when you get the full digital display and the off-white interior. It's a beautiful car.

This is such a nice car. I live in Europe and Audi will charge you for every freaking thing including radar for parking. NO NAVIGATION on a 60k Audi Q3 that I just ordered today through my company car program. As an American appreciate what Cadillac and the Japanese car makers are giving you compared to the overpriced German makes. Unfortunately, my company only deals with German & French makes.

1st they put a 4 cylinder, then they ad AFM to switch to 2 cylinders on the highway? Might and well put power sliding floors so people can use their feet for power if they want to get the most mpg where ever they go. They need to bring back v8s back to mid size suvs

These cars are terrible, I work at a Cadillac dealer and we've seen at least 5 of these with UNDER 1500 miles that needed the torque converter replaced...classic example of don't buy the first year

Reminds me of when caddy was almost dead in the late 1980s and they tossed leather seats into cavaliers and called it a Cadillac.

I love the look of this Cadillac with some exceptions. It looks great from the front and the back mostly. In the video that guy says they paid "extreme attention to detail" yet if you look at the entire bottom of the front it is a cheap grey plastic just looked at one today. I was so disappointed this is supposed to be a luxury vehicle but little details like that make it look cheap. All they had to do was paint it same as the rest gloss black and it would look way better. Another thing that shocked me was how small this looks in person It looks tiny. Even other small vehicles some how appear to look bigger. Don't ask me how they just do. The interior while small is very nice I love the little extra details inside. I am still considering this vehicle but not sure the plastic in the front is such a disappointment. You have to see it in person to understand it reminds me of 2006 Chevrolet Equinox
