I wouldn't hesitate to own another Prius. However, I got my 2020 Hybrid for much less... $21,700 out the door (amount financed). Also, these hybrid transmissions (Toyota planetary gears).

I have a 2010 Prius, with 291K as of 4/25 and counting.. The best cars ever, unless you are buying an AMG, Toyotas are the only car you need.

The same CVT transmission used in the 3400 Corolla Hatchbacks which were recalled. The Corolla has a Timing Chain rather than a belt so there is no mileage interval replacement. I wanted to trade my loaded 2018 Corolla XSE for a Hybrid Corolla but not for the LE trim level. So I get to wait and see what Toyota deems relevant to offer. Synthetic oil does not degrade over time unless it is contaminated with fuel, water or combustion by products. Do not expect truthful answers from car salesman. They will fabricate if they don't know or like the true answer. The GPS update chip costs $99.95 from most dealers. $39.95 on Ebay. Toyota GPS sucks.

Nice and efficient compact sedan, definitely on my radar - but the review defies physics,

No, this car does not have more power than advertised because of batteries, for anything more than a minute or two, and no, it does not have less CO_2 or volatile or carbon or particulate emissions than a modern clean Diesel - with approximately the same or less mpg - and has a lot more pollution than an equivalent EV ... It also has much worse driving dynamics than the best large and efficient compacts in this class, if you care for that active safety feature.

But you get a warranty. Also, they tend to last over 10 years. You can buy aftermarket batteries for under $2k.

+DoSe oF MoE We bought it on March 23rd, so we're had it 31 days. There are 1936 miles on it now, so just over 62 miles a day. Weekdays I go more because I have an hour commute both ways. I also may spend one to two hours driving between customer locations in a day. This is mostly on rural highways, too. Not big city driving. One thing I don't like is the difference between what the display says I get and what the math shows when I fill up. The display usually shows 64-65 mpg, but all four fill ups have shown a touch over 60 doing the math. So at the moment I subtract 4 mpg from what the display says until it proves itself right someday.

What I asked for in my previous comments.. A car built the way i'd like it. Just because I want good fuel economy doesn't mean I want a cloth seat, plastic hubcap cheap looking car. This shouldn't need to be elaborated on.. Offer all trims with all motors.. Or some variation of CHOICES. The standard prius is too ugly for me, I think their streamlining of the styling actually ruined it.

The Hybrid LE is better equipped than the gas LE. You get keyless entry with push button start, full LED lighting, and digital gauge cluster. What more do you need?

+Marco Morel Meh.. My friend has a Prius C that he's put 170k on since 2013.. He's told me He'd likely go to a conventional Prius with the hatch before he'd even look at the corolla. He said "that makes no sense" when I told him that the Corolla Hy was replacing the C. Kind of an odd shuffling of the line in my opinion as well. I'd still like the option for a Corolla XSE Hybrid, though.

    • Marco Morel
Marco Morel In reply to JakeDrives

If they offered multiple trims it would eat Prius sales like crazy. Toyota didn't want that because Prius sales are already falling as it is so the Corolla Hybrid is a replacement for the Prius C and if you want more options then you go to the Prius or Prius Prime and if you want even more you go to the Rav4 hybrid which replaces the Prius V

Almost no maintenance parts in the engine other than having to change the oil/filter and air filters (engine/cabin). And every REALLY long time you replace the spark plugs and 12-volt battery (I suggest a new 12-volt battery every 4 years, as they usually die after 5 years time.) Other than that, you replace the tires when they wear out and the wiper blades when they wear out. That's it, nothing else to worry about. After 12 years you might have to replace one or two dead cells in the hybrid battery pack if you've driven more than 300,000 miles in the car, but there are videos online to help you to do that for a few hundred dollars.

I want a vehicle that gets me from point A-to-B with minimal cost and minimal problems (that cancels out the thought of any Porsche or Audi vehicle). Honda's = fuel dilution problems due to their turbos. Nissan = CVT failures. Subaru = head gaskets. Mazda = no touch-screens, just 'JOY' stick controllers. So Toyota's the best for low-problem Japanese vehicles. I was thinking of a Tesla Model 3 but there are no government rebates on electric cars in Ontario, Canada, and those cost 3-TIMES what a Corolla hybrid costs. Ontario also has the world's MOST EXPENSIVE electricity rates (twice as expensive as most of the USA), so fueling up with electricity is not such a great cost saving. Now I hear of people having quality control problems with their Tesla vehicles and when it all boils down, the Corolla hybrid is the low-cost trouble-free vehicle that the Tesla Model 3 is 'not'.

This pretty much the Prius they discontinued and put it in a corrola so people who find the Prius to have a weird shape can get a corrola hybrid that many people may like shape better. It's also cheaper I believe almost 2k and looks nicer.

i wish the hell he'd have moved into the left lane already, so much wasted time. ride motions seem gentle enough over obviously lumpy pavement. needs more noise suppression, they shoulda put electronic noise cancellation or at least laminated window glass in it.
