The 2015 BMW X6 M. This is a premium SUV from BMW, featuring a 4.4L V8 producing 567 HP, which I’ll be comparing to the Acura MDX, BMW X5 M, Cadillac Escalade, Mercedes ML400, and Volkswagen Touareg. Starting with the drawbacks, the BMW comes at a steep price tag, just under 113 thousand as tested. It’s fairly heavy and gets poor gas mileage (how unexpected) at 14 city 19 highway. It also has the least cargo space of the group. That said, it’s track performance is incredible. 0-60 in 4 seconds, neutral handling through the slalom, fantastic stopping power, and just like the X5M it has the highest ground clearance of the luxury SUVs in the group.

Compared to the X5M, it’s not quite 100 lbs lighter, but sacrifices heavily in cargo space, legroom and headroom. The diet it’s on cranks it’s price up another $6000 too. If you happen to be cross shopping an X6 and X5 M, my recommendation is the X5 M for added practicality, though it does seem odd calling a $106k 567 HP SUV practical. Due to their performance nature, the BMWs did not compete in the off-road portion.

People don't buy hatchbacks and wagons. That's why BMW make these sports cars with SUV bodies.

imho the X6 is one of the coolest looking crossover SUVs ever...It's just that BMW isn't using it to it's full potential.

aside Porsche Cayenne Turbo I don't really see any serious competition for X6. BMW needs to introduce more options for the interior for sure, compared to cayenne it's far behind on this one. But the fun factor is still here and kicking. As an owner of the previous X6 I do look forward to owning the new X6M. )))

i bet the reason why they didn't let you take the bmw's off road was because they are shit like all the normal rwd bmw's

The offroad course was pathetic anyway. I've driven my lowered car through stuff twice as bad.

@Porsche Curves it must be. i'm pretty sure most cars to drive round that "off road" course. i'm sure if they invited roadkill they would have taken something on drag slicks round it, or maybe a low rider.

@Lawrence Timme Gee, I wonder why all of the other manufacturers are using all seasons and going through but the summer tyres aren't? Surely that's just a coincidence. /s

@Lawrence Timme So you're telling me that summer tyres are designed for off road usage but not recommended in wet conditions? Might want to go enroll in primary school again, kid.

@oOofrosticleoOo How about you buy it because there is no "off road" boulevard in the city? A buddy of mine got one earlier this year for twatting around London... the natural habitat of big ass SUVs... err, right. :)

It can be taken off road with the right setup just not with summer tires. What you also need to understand is that those who can afford (and shop) for the X5M and X6M can also a)easily afford an off-road or winter wheel setup but b)will probably never do so. This is a boulevard cruiser for people who want SAV like vehicles.

They should at least let you do a hard acceleration run to 100mph, with a car with that much power. Must be tempting.

@Notverygoodatall Yeah... I was able to drive the X5 M on public roads; thing can haul! But you really do feel the bulk, they're quite heavy vehicles.
