Now that ALP came out with the TX heads, is it necessary to use one in combination with the regular sensors? Or are just the regular sensors enough to protect against the latest laser guns? BTW I drive a F80 M3 if that helps.
      Thanks!

Not sure about Prolaser, but I remember reading that LTI lyte lasers are not recommended for use in inclement weather as well as thru the window.  You have any details about that?

Why would you drill your firewall? There are already grommets for wires the car uses. You just fish your wire trough the existing firewall grommet. Duh.

How fast do you want to go over the speed limit? How much time / money will it save you? I doubt it will pay for itself ... unless you are one ticket away from loosing your licence.

When you consider the cost of a speeding ticket, court costs, lawyer fees, and hikes to your car insurance, you can see how it'd pay for itself really quickly...

I've personally used Veil successfully against LIDAR. It was very noticeable on the Escort 9500ix when the officer repeatedly targeted my car, making a garbled noise until it had a good lock. It looks nowhere near as apparent as your video shows, and honestly it takes away from your perceived honesty by exaggerating the application in your demonstration. As soon as I saw this, I immediately started questioning your impartiality and advice. Thanks.

The audible tone from your detector doesn't change whether you're running Veil, laser jammers, or are running without protection. Your RD alerts when it detects laser and that's it. The V1 can also add directional info, as can some laser jammers, but that's it. The ALP with Pro Mode can change its sound depending on if the officer is targeting you directly or you're picking up scatter, but that's as far as it goers with varying sounds. Otherwise there is NO change with any radar detector, including garbled or broken tones.

If you ever have a chance to test out your vehicle with a laser gun in hand, shooting normal cars and then shooting your own to see the difference, that'll be the best test of all to see what difference, if any, Veil truly makes. Hopefully you get a chance so you can see for yourself.

+Vortex Radar The audible tone on the detector is what I heard, and the odd part was the noise it made when targeted was not the typical noise I've heard. It can best be described as somewhat garbled or broken toned version of the same tone, possibly due to the officer's actions of attempting to get a good read while aiming or reshooting. Without going into too much detail, it allowed me to drop speed about 17mph before the officer got a good lock. I followed the instructions about applying a thin coat on my headlights, front plate, and even applied it to my grill since it was a fairly flat faced object that may produce enough return on certain parts to mitigate the usefulness of the product (using G4 when it happened), and remember reading something about only applying a thin coat in the instructions at the time as well as more is not better, which is why I commented. For kicks, I even Googled Dragoneye vs Veil and a newer video from them showed up (I learned they now have G5, then when I visited the site found out they have G5.6?) It showed a very similar read with their detector as it was targeted and was as accurate as you can get as far as how my situation played out with the amount of time I was given to reduce speed before the officer gets a good return. The only caveat to this entire conversation I thought about was how the testing is done. If any of the studies are targeting vehicles inside the 1000 yard mark, specifically inside about 700 yards, that will likely give a much faster return than if targeted at 1500 yards with very low time for the driver to react, admittedly likely resulting in a ticket. How you have a great day as well, and thanks for sharing.

Interesting. How were you able to hear the sound of the officer's gun?

I don't think I addressed Veil in this video you're commenting on so I'm not sure what video you're referring to. Maybe this one? https://youtu.be/ViQz7UtR25k The reason I did a heavy application back in the video from years ago was because the liquid was wayyy too thick to apply with a brush or sprayer the way I did on my car with Veil G4. The formula has since been diluted since to help with application. Nevertheless, even with an absurdly too dark application that would obvious be completely unrealistic to run in the real world, I didn't see much of a benefit in practice and so that's what I'm sharing with people. I tried it, tested it, and shared my results. If you don't believe me, that's okay.

The other independent testers all found the same thing.

Veil and its owner have earned their reputation in the industry over the years. Nevertheless, if you feel Veil works for you and you're happy with it, I'm glad you're using something that you're happy with. How well it actually works, that's a different story, but if it makes you feel more protected, I'm happy for you and I wish you all the best on the road!

Which do you reccomend for motorcycles that are available?

Vortex Radar In reply to Lee

In general the ALP is the best. For motorcycles, you can get the new TMG. It's more affordable and one nice benefit is that you can get by with one head per side and still jam the tough newer guns out there. So it costs less than the ALP, plus you can do 2 heads instead of 4 which makes it even cheaper. You can pick them up here http://bit.ly/2CyMX3I and use the coupon BLACKFRIDAY50 to save $50.
