We spend a lot of time behind the wheel of our automobile. Most people typically speed and dread the sounds of a police officer or sight of a police officer in our rearview mirror. With a recent speeding ticket hurting my wallet it made me think more of why did i Spend over $600 on a radar detector that doesn't work. Here's my new solution. Make sure you download Waze on your smartphone.

I think what's some folk are missing after they watch this video is that it's important to use Waze IN-CONJUNCTION with a radar-detector because unless you had the radar detector and without you being aware of where The Hidden cops running radar are, you can only make visual contributions to the WAZE- Network, you are a much more valuable resource for the WAZE-Network if you are using a radar detector!

adrianpl was looking through the comments to see if anyone realized this too.. looks like you might be the only smart person here 😂

laser speed guns read your speed instantly with no "leak" that can be detected.

a laser warning basically just means you're fucked if you don't have a laser jammer. (illegal in some states)

It's called instant on to where they pull the trigger pop must be the more trendy way of saying it but they've had it for years. For years and years it is not safe to depend on your radar detector if you are on a road with not many people and I mean fairly well spaced out because one of the ways it works with the instant on is you pick up them clocking cars in front of you. If you were speeding down the road at night you're the only one on the road you're radar detector ain't going to help you and probably weighs or anything else ain't going to help you either. It's best to speed in light traffic so there's enough cars on the road to pick up the signal

What sucks is living in a very rural area, Waze really does not work, on the highway it works great near more populated areas. There's just not enough people to report where the police are in a place like I live (Caribou Maine). Now if you use google maps for a GPS it works the same as Waze. You can also buy a uniden beartracker 885 CB, and it scans for the low power signals that police, d.o.t etc use to communicate, and alerts you if you are close to one. It also has a built in scanner along with gps so you never have to update your frequency, it does it automatically. So I suppose if you use a radar detector, waze, and that uniden beartracker all at the same time.. you should be good.

He probably popped you because it wasn’t KA band. It was most likely Lidar. And jamming lidar IS LEGAL UNDER FEDERAL LAW

This video and it’s comments has made it very clear that that the best takeaway is that you should probably use both. Sometimes Waze will work while your laser won’t and vice versa so why not just use both?

If your radio wasn't so loud you would have heard the alert. I would like to recommend that you should always run a AL Priority System
along with a radar detector if you have the budget for it.

First. Uniden R3 is a better radar detector, however NO radar detector is very good at picking up laser, which is probably how they caught you.Radar and laser require two different approaches. The Anti Laser Priority is by far the best laser jammer on the market. You should use it in conjunction with the Waze app for the best results.

I was just in Louisville and I'm amazed you got pulled over. My dad was doing 70 on the highway and everyone was passing us. We were on a 45 zone and my dad was gong 60 and people were still passing us at a quick rate. Honestly Louisville drivers put me on edge more than any others.

I have owned a Corvette. Never got a speeding ticket in that car. My Honda Ridgeline “2.” Crap back luck car/truck wasn’t fast at all but it just stuck out black cherry pearl . Corvette is go stink fast and I never felt need to prove it so I drove like it was fast and I had nothing to prove.

I also own an Escort Max 360 radar detector and it used to give a lot of false alarms on K-band for the reason you outlined however if you plug it into your computer and update the firmware the detector effectively filters out the radar from nearby automobiles used for blind spot detection and adaptive cruise control. Try the upgrade and you will be very satisfied with the detector's performance. Most cops now days use KA-band but a few still use K. WAZE is OK but not very much help looking for speed traps. Most police move around enough that WAZE information is not that accurate.
