2019 Kia Forte Review. In this review, we take an in depth look at the brand new 2019 Kia Forte. We look at the Forte's Exterior, Interior, and take it out for a Drive. In a world where sedans seem to be leaving in place of crossovers, does the Kia Forte still have a place? I think so, and thank you for watching my Kia Forte Review.

@Jasmine Dollente Jasmine thank you so much for stopping by, I read the whole comment and I am thankful to you for taking the time to interact with the community because comments really help out others who are interested in the car so they don't have to just go by whatever I say. I'm so glad the Forte worked out for you it is a good little car and has a lot of promise. I'm glad your boyfriend also likes this CVT trans it won me over as well. I'm also happy to hear you still enjoy your new Forte. Congrats and thank you so much for watching take care!

Direct injection with the ultra high pressure fuel pumps are (in many cases) problematic and horrendously expensive to fix. Adding even more pressure with a turbo makes it worse. We are now at a point where owning most cars out of warranty is not viable. That means a new car every three years and THAT costs a fortune in depreciation. At least with Kia/Hyundai you get 5 year/60K bumper-to-bumper and 10 years/100K powertrain warranty. If you're not doing 3 year leases with pre-tax income, the choice of which new car to buy is a no-brainer: Kia or Hyundai.

I bought the silver one. Like the contrast of the black accents and interior and lighter color. I think this car is fast enough In sport mode. Gets off the line quick and accelerates fine on the highway. I only find it slow when I have a car full of people. Expected for a small 4 cylinder. The cvt is excellent in my opinion. Also the infotainment system is excellent for the price of the car.

I have had this car for 3-4 months. Excellent commuter car drives really nice on sport mode and the look of it inside and out is amazing. I have thought of getting a BMW or Audi but hard to get it now.

Reason being the KIA Forte has so much value for the price I paid. It also seems reliable and relatively easy to maintain. Also lots of safety features and the LED lights look sick as well as tail-lights

Enjoyed and agree with your review though I think it would have been good to mention the numerous safety and technological features (forward collision warning and braking, lane keeping warning and assist, driver attention warning, blind spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, tire pressure management system, Apple Car Play and Android Auto, heated front seats and steering wheel) that aren't available on most compact cars (or only on high trim models) but were available on the inexpensive Canadian Forte EX trim level (Canada has LX MT, LX, EX, EX+, EX Premium and EX Limited). Also longer warranty than most (even better in the US). We've had ours for 1-1/2 months (sold our 2007 Mazda 3) including 5-hour trips on successive days which didn't bother my back at all (ours has 16" alloy wheels and Kumho's). I really like our Forte though I wish power seats were an option (not just available on high trim levels), that all power window buttons had Auto-down (not just driver's), had spare tire (real or compact) not just tire inflator/repair kit (I think US versions do have spare) and more colour choices than red, blue, white, black and three shades of grey. I hope it proves to be reliable.

Thank you! And yea I mainly try to focus on the drive and there are definitely a ton of features and safety available in certain trims and places but that would have to be a whole different video haha this was already closing in on 30 minutes. It’s a really good car and I’m sure it will prove to be very reliable. Great choice!

Bought this car 1 month ago today (EX launch edition), and I love it. It's fun to drive, took it on some empty canyon roads for the first time, and it seemed to enjoy being pushed...not to say that it's "quick", haha...but it is fun to drive! The CVT is surprisingly responsive, and does a good job of pretending not to be a CVT, which is the best praise that I can give a CVT. Handling is easy, the steering is light, but I don't mind that at all. The mileage is awesome, even when I drive like an idiot, I get 30 MPG easy. The features and trim make me smile every time I get in. I do appreciate having physical buttons to do simple things, without having to use the touchscreen, which is also very responsive and easy to use. Knocking it out the park, Kia! Good stuff!
BTW, the launch edition only comes in the "Fire Orange" color, not sure if they had different colors for the press cars, but if you want the EX launch, they only come in ORAAAAANGE! SO ORANGE!

Reliability of a port injected only motor with no turbos, class leading features as standard for the most part, excellent driving dynamics that’s satisfying day to day, very good rear leg space which some other competitors lack, and subjectively, good looking exterior all for a fraction of the price of many competitors with incentives on top of that from dealers backed up by a decade long warranty.

That’s what this car has that not every other car does.

Hey Kevin, I liKe the Forte a lot. Waiting for the SX (think that’s the name of the turbo version). Leasing a base Stinger now but it just feels so big. Another gripe is no emergency hand brake (it’s a floor pedal—yuk). What would you have between the two? Base Stinger or a loaded Forte SX? Also liked your Mazda 3 test & noticed comments in favor of 3 over the Forte. I see their point, but Mazda styling just doesn’t make me glow like a night-light in shit. That, of course, is personal taste. Finally, you gotta wonder who named those tires...KUMHO??? In KS there is a chain of convenience stores named Kum-N-Go (seriously). 😂 Your videos just get better. So many others are just stale. Take care Kevin!

Exhaust Sports Auto In reply to Steven Wilhite

Hey Steven, thanks so much for your kind words, and regarding the Forte, yea the GT sport should be out with the Turbo. I do like the Forte and I like the looks however, the Kia Soul is actually a car that drives identical to the Forte but rides better. I know it doesn’t look as good but it’s very practical and costs about the same. I don’t like that turbo engine with the automatic, the set up just doesn’t feel linear to me, feels fine with a manual. The Elantra sport with a manual would feel amazing but I’m assuming you’re trying to break your stinger lease. I think the Forte or Soul with a stick can be very enjoyable. I hope this helps!

Exhaust Sports Auto In reply to Zach Johnson

Oh ok that’s not bad, and I don’t blame you for using the manual mode it’s legit in this car. Your Mpg isn’t bad then for Manual and sport mode, if you let the car do its thing in normal mode you will see a vast improvement well into the mid 30s as you seek. But if you try that and it still doesn’t make a huge difference then yea I would take it to a dealer although they probably won’t be of much help.

Agreed bro this car is certainly up there and again I have to mention cost, can’t believe what Kia is able to do for the money. Enjoy that sweet ride my friend

    • Zach Johnson
Zach Johnson In reply to Zach Johnson

@Exhaust Sports Auto Ahh. I like to use the manual sport mode in the car. I typically average 29mpg in the city and 32hwy. It kinda gets to me sometimes because even when I'm driving economically I feel like I should be getting about 35-37mpg. Though I usually fill up once a week maybe twice depending on how much I drive of course. But I'll take it to the dealership and get it tested. Other than that, I feel like the car is definitely up there with the honda civics and Elantras easily! Thank you for your help and amazing review man!!! Keep it up!

Also I drove in normal and smart mode those are the best modes, and if you drive in normal a lot, try smart

    • Exhaust Sports Auto
Exhaust Sports Auto In reply to Zach Johnson

Hmm do you have the automatic? It should be a piece of cake to be averaging 30mpg in any car of this segment. In automatic cars I delay hiting the brakes, so coasting having your foot off the gas is the best thing and just let the engine brake for you by letting the RPMs drop. But obviously do this in safety depending on circumstances. But yea dude even when I trash these cars I get 30mpg you shouldn’t have to try hard to get that number. Maybe take it to a dealer to get it checked out see if the electronics are reading right?

    • Zach Johnson
Zach Johnson In reply to Zach Johnson

@Exhaust Sports Auto I agree!! However, the main thing I don't like about the car though is for me, I have trouble getting into the 30s with gas mileage. Any tips or things I should change in my driving habits aside from not flooring it?

I own a 2017 Elantra. They have a 2.0 Atkinson cycle variant of the Nu engine. I would stay away. Mine, and according to many reports the dealer told me they get, is they make a loud ticking/tapping noise when cold. It sounds like a diesel. Dealer reported Hyundai said it was normal because the metal shrinks in cold weather. I have never ever had a car do this in cold weather and I have had my fair share of bombs. I bought it used so am only covered up to 60000 miles. I said to Hyundai ok if this is so normal cover my car to the full 10 year 100000 mile warranty. They just keep giving me the run around. I mean if there is no issue with the car it would not cost them anything to give the full powertrain warranty. I have no confidence in the longevity of this engine and unfortunately it looks like they are putting these in more models like the Kona. Also I think these engines are in the Kia Forte and other Kia models.

Thanks for the review! I've watched a few others as well, and I think yours might have been the most helpful! I really like the look of the Forte 2019, and I'm particularly interested in the EX trim, maybe the launch package if I can find it at a good price! I've been looking at cars around the $15k range, but since I plan on my next car being the one I keep for the long haul, I don't think I'd mind spending extra to get the gimmicks like the cooled seats, and getting a fully new car, and $20k doesn't seem unreasonable for me for a car like this. Thanks again!

Oh wow that’s an excellent price yea I would take it just watch out for inflated interest rates or dealer fees that’s my only concern when getting a car at a crazy good price. But overall, that’s what I like about Hyundai Kia they’re prices are excellent because of dealer discounts

@Exhaust Sports Auto I did a lot of searching last night, and found a dealer with the 2019 EX Launch Edition for under $19,000 which seems like an incredible price to me for it brand new with pretty much all the bells and whistles! All the dealers near my area have the same model for at least $3,500 more, so I might have to take a weekend off to get it, but I'm already in talks with them about potentially purchasing! Currently just driving my mom's old car, a 2003 Grand Prix, so the upgrade should be nice!

I wanted to buy one & give KIA a shot, but I'm only interested in the nice Steel Grey color that KIA doesn't offer on this car in the U.S. market. Gravity Gray is just too dark. Tired of the same white cars, silver cars, royal blue cars, black cars, dark gray cars, burgundy or bright red cars, etc. Do a search on YouTube for 'Kia Cerato 2019 Steel Grey' to see how sexy the Forte looks in Steel Grey versus Gravity Gray.

Hmmm. I'm considering trading in my 2017 Toyota Corolla LE for a 2019 Forte LXS. How's the acceleration on this car? I'm fine with the acceleration on my Corolla. This Forte offers so much more, and the dealership is giving it to me for $15,500 plus TTL. It sucks Toyota won't offer Android Auto till 2020 or 2021.

It would be a bit faster than the corolla I believe corolla is in the 9 second range and this Forte is in the 8 second range. The fastest is the civic at 6.5 seconds in the 1.5 turbo however I will always go naturally aspirated with these motors. A lot of these times are achieved by brake boosting the vehicle and nobody drives like that on the street. Turbo motors fall flat very quick in the high rpms, but try them all see what you like best

Exhaust Sports Auto that’s because it uses a chain instead of a belt which probably alleviates the lag associated with belt slip on other CVTs.

It’s not harsh it’s your thoughts and opinions my friend you did at least try it before pulling the trigger and these are your thoughts on the CVT, others may find value in this but I’m happy that you’re enjoying your new Manual Forte! Will be doing a video on the 2020 soul soon

I understand your concern but trust me this CVT performs better than most automatics, I’m a CVT phobe just like you but you gotta try it out yea the Manual is more fun but for those buying the CVT it’s brilliant and journalists I personally trust say the same thing this CVT is an absolute home run but good for you for getting the Manual that’s also a great choice
