Hello my name is Daniel I just got a 17 Colorado diesel, and I was wondering if you guys can help me to decide what size of a tire with wheel to have some poke on a stock suspension, if so please let me know so I can start my build. I would really appreciate it.

As an 'aftermarket authority' its nice to have experience with whats out there- I've been very happy with the Sway A Way's in some ways and disappointed in others- but now I can explain fully to perspective buyers and not just shove a bunch of sales BS down their throat. -Justin

No need- this truck already has 4.10's from the factory and I didn't dramatically increase the tire size. -Justin

ID and Matt Alderman really know their stuff when it comes to the Ecoboost platform and I was confident they'd be able to extract more power safely while making the truck more enjoyable to drive- which they've delivered on. I don't have experience with Cobb on the 3.5 but knowing the brand I'm sure they do a great job as well. -Justin

I'm 20 planning on getting a gen 2 raptor when I'm 25 and I'm glad I got to see all my upgrades in one truck because damn that's nice. Gonna keep it stock for a while, but first upgrades will definitely be the cooler and front bumper upgrades, and then exhaust bc I know for sure there are a couple exhaust kits that make the v6 sound much better. Cold air intake will def come along with those upgrades and I will probably wait until the stock tires need to be replaced and then I'll upgrade tires and wheels. Also will upgrade stock brakes after they're done. Only thing I don't plan on upgrading is the suspension, I don't plan on offroading it much because I want to keep it around for 250k miles or so. Cool vid

I feel like at this point you should have just bought an f150 with a coyote and bought a long travel kit with coilovers... A raptor is badass but most mod it to the point all stock components are removed and replaced with expensive performance parts for far more $$$$... So wouldn't buying a cheap f150 with the coyote and a long travel kit with coilovers and tune the engine.... It's cheaper by like 35k

    • AmericanTrucks Ford
AmericanTrucks Ford In reply to lucian kristov

Its all relative- when you think about what it would take to get a standard F150 on the Level of a Raptor simply from suspension alone. Then you have things that make the Raptor unique- the frame, the drive modes, the appearance and so on. At the end of the day, no matter how much you mod an standard F150, its still a standard F150. -Justin

Justin, any updates on how the Sway-A-Ways are treating you? And why you went with those over a Fox/Icon/King setup? I'm tempted to upgrade my suspension to something along the lines of a Stage 5 Icon setup and would just like to consider all the options.

Why would you buy a raptor then upgrade everything that made it a raptor in the first place? Makes no sense. Just upgrade a regular truck and don't waste the money on a raptor in the first place.
