MG6: Great car but if only if THEY CALLED IT A ROEWE OR A FAW INSTEAD OF AN MG.

This review is fake as hell. There's no way he had no complaints about the car. They just edited out everything he said wasn't good about the MG6

Iv driven this MG ! I agree with MR Wilson on just about all counts !!!!!!!
one infamous ex BBC TV presenter who only likes £100k plus cars and likes the sound of his own voice can not be relied on to give proper advice to people looking for a good value for money used car that looks and drives very nice !

Mr Wilson is correct ! the MG is nice on the eye and nice to drive ! A very good second hand value for money car !

Quinton is correct ! iv driven the MG it's a nice drive ! Jeremy Clarkson is so far off the mark with his slating views of the car , the MG makes a great second hand value for money buy !
Nice handling , nice flowing lines , pleanty room , and build is ok , The Rover 75 which this car has DNA from was a a good car by most people's standards !
The people who own them are the ones to listen to , but Q W has a better and more realistic view than J C !!!!!!!!!

Iv just had a drive in a MG 6 Petrol engined model today and I have to agree with Mr Wilson
it's a good driving car in many ways . I was not expecting it to be much good after reading the comments on here , but value for money motoring is obvious , and it's much better than it is portrayed !

Great test, thanks Quentin for being very honest and not anti MG like so many seem to be.
I would buy one if i was looking for a new car.
I like the old KV6 engine on my present car and am not looking to change for a while.

The whole design team should've gone to Specsavers. It's hideous and so cheap looking! Quentin If you met the people that developed this at prototype level, you should have been honest with them and told them the truth, NO, it's terrible!

As opposed to the biased reviews of German cars in the German owned car magazines driven by 'advertising' budget? The ones where the same standard trim in a Golf is 'fantastic' but on an MG, or a Hyundai is 'cheap & tacky'. Listen to the owners, fantastic car.

The trouble is many idiots have preconceived ideas and just no idea what makes a good car.
If it is half as good as my old car with the 2.5 KV6 engine it would be very good, if it is better then it would be great.

That is why I like the diesel. and have you driven the Honda Jaz with a cvt and the flappy paddle 7 speed option? it has the chassis dynamics of a barge, the Vtec engines rev like mad and have nothing low down. being made in the UK would be good if they were designed with decent chassis/suspension.
If I wanted a car to take for a gentle drive and go shopping a Honda would be fine but compared to a Ford or MG, they are not drivers cars, even the testers who want to hate the MG have all said it is responsive and fun to drive.

+Barrie Rodliffe I've read that the 1.8 petrol is thirsty, with high emissions and underpowered. The MG 6 is bested by cheaper rivals (e.g the Koreans) or more competent ones (from ze Germans). And as for Hondas being shopping cars their Vtec engines are very good and most of the ones you see on UK roads are UK made, which should give them some kudos in the eyes of patriotic people

      English caveman.
Which engine, I have seen tests of both petrol and diesel and for me the diesel which is made in house and a very good engine is the one to have, good performance and economy and as for price the Skoda Octavia is not as well equipped, even build quality the MG is just fine, the only main criticism I have heard is scratchy plastics, I ask you what is scratchy?
Outclassed by what at the same price?
If you want a shopping car then buy a Honda but if you want a drivers car the Ford Focus is great and this is better.

+Barrie Rodliffe I absolutely do not doubt that it is a fine handling car, it is a derivative of the Rover 75 platform which was a fine car in every respect. But with regard to criticisms, many have said the engine is gruff and lacklustre, the build quality is shoddy, and when compared to competition it is comprehensively bested. They don't make any sense when you could have a Skoda Octavia for similar money but with far greater quality. And as for the disregard for British products I personally completely adore the Jaguar XE and feel JLR will be the saviours of the British car industry, I just feel that this 'revival' of MG was a shadow of what it once was and this + the MG 3 are outclassed.

The video was put on by the MG car co. marketing department and Quentin Wilson was not paid for it, he reviewed the car as an independent.
As for other positive tests or reviews there are quite a few, even the negative tests do mention some of the good points about the MG, first it is a very good handling car which not one tester has denied, second it is well equipped again no disagreement, one or two have made negative comments but they have not really shown much to complain about.
It is bad news that Longbridge is closing down, bad news for Britain, the good news for China is they can still buy MG`s there.
A truly great car and well worth the money.
Oh I took off my spectacles before writing this, I really wonder why some people are so anti anything British.

I can't believe that MG still has this video on their late-2013 sales page. This couldn't have been less believable if Jeremy Clarkson had popped up half way through and did a five minute sales pitch for Yamaha's new R1 motorcycle.  Quentin Wilson couldn't have been more biased if he'd tried and should be embarrassed for this, or does money ease that when there is no TV work going? Totally put me off the car the more than a honest commercial might have done.
