Most people don't consider the Lexus IS250 when looking for a sporty saloon car. I try and figure out why that is, and if the Lexus is worth considering.

Asides love, i believe smartness is also very important in any relationship. I discovered my husband was a cheating Narcissist through the help of Cyberhackingsage who helped cloned my husband’s phone and i got access to all his dealings and text without touching his phone. All i did was share my husband’s phone number with cyberhackingsage and i was able to read both his new and deleted messages from my phone without having to touch his phone. It was a painful experience for me but I’m glad i found out all his secrets and infidelity with the help of cyberhackingsage. I’m here in UK and able to access my husband’s phone even while he was away in Canada cheating on me. I got to discover that my husband who is married to me here in UK is also recently married to another woman in Canada and I’m finally going through a divorce with lots of evidence against him. I read all his WhatsApp, Facebook, Skype, Instagram , Snapchat messages including deleted and recent messages. I had the is 250 brand new in 2010. I'm telling you these cars have well enough power. Only had it for a two year lease, I can imagine it's still running along smoothly to this day. I've had Mercs, BMW, Audi, porsche, Volkswagon. Out of all these I recommend the Lexus for reliability and comfort.

Make your mind up, its not as good as a 3 series, but here are all the reasons why its better than a 3 series.. If you want to be bounced about over english roads then buy a german car. If you want a quality car with comfort then buy a lexus. Never listen to a car "expert".

I know everyone says Lexus is reliable and they pretty much are for the most part but if your in the market for one of these especially higher mileage cars, make sure that carbon build up issue has or will be done cause it will happen (around 120-160k) Everything else is just minor maintenance

High Peak Autos you got a while before you have to worry about it. It’s when you get to really high miles that you should get it cleaned. I had to do mine at 160k and I know a few people as well as reading on the forums that it happens as early as 120k.

I do agree that the gearbox is a little slow however it is far superior in terms of reliability to any DSG as it is an Aisin transmission who make the best automatics in the world

BMW are for people who like burning money and have a badge fetish , lexus means quality and reliability, I own a tow truck company never picked up a is250 picked up plenty of BMW's tho the whole range, currently picking up loads with timing chains slipping ,picked up a 2018 m4 last week, I personally own a is250 had it 10 years never had a issue drives silky smooth and ultra reliable ,top most reliable car manufacturers are Toyota/ lexus and honda, your mom got good taste

Had a 2006 IS250 Auto from new, now with 145,000 miles, and it has been brilliant - still feels like a new car to drive! If buying used check for wheel corrosion, paint bubbling on aluminium bonnet and seized rear brake callipers. DIY servicing is also relatively straight forward, spark plug change takes a bit longer due to the plastic intake manifold needing to be removed to access 3 of the plugs but still doable. The 6 speed auto is best option, very smooth, better mpg than manual and lower VED tax band :) The original Bridgestone tyres were very noisy, changing to Dunlop Sport Maxx RTs transformed the car on the motorway, lowering noise and improving steering. It really is a very quiet car and has sufficient power once you realise that the Lexus throttle is set-up to provide a smooth and refined drive. More spirited driving needs the sport mode to be selected and the throttle to be pushed considerably further, although the car's forte is giving you a refined and serene driving experience with decently accurate steering and a good level of body control.

The VVTi issue mentioned - on my car since about 50,000 miles there is very occasionally a start-up top-end rattle from the engine that disappears within 2-3 seconds. The engine has been near faultless other than needing a litre of oil between 10,000 mile changes and benefitting from a TerraClean decarbonisation at 120,000 miles. The GDI engine can suffer from some carbon build-up on the inlet side that causes the engine to stumble when the car comes to a stop, so a clean helps. Even at the relatively high mileage I'm regularly seeing 34 mpg urban and 39+ mpg on the motorway.

In my experience the IS250 really is a car you can keep and enjoy driving for many years and miles with low costs and great reliability.

This bloke totally misses the point. He's a typical BMW fanboy, brainwashed by Top Gear style programmes. The Lexus isn't meant to be driven like a sports car. How fast they are and how fast they go round bends is irrelevant. For real world driving on public roads there is more than enough power and handling. Then you are left with a beautifully smooth, refined, elegant, understated car. It's also better engineered than German cars and it doesn't have the hideous reputation that comes with BMWs and Audis that always seem to be driven by arrogant chavs.

I disagree. If Lexus want to go head to head with the Germans, they have to have some level of sportiness to them. I'm a Lexus fan by the way but I was trying to make a point, maybe you didn't watch the full video

Thanks for the info! I have this car. The motor sounds like it just left the lot! This car will last forever. Mine is a bit stripped down but I love it! Negatives are; you need to be a bit small to fit in it. If you are over 200lbs and tall, this may not fit your body. This car still has some get up and go, you just need to press the pedal. Used cars of this model are inexpensive and you are getting a stylish, fun, loaded, luxury vehicle.
