I have had Jeeps for three decades with every type of top imaginable and I have found the Bestop Sunrider for hardtops is the best of all worlds.

I've driven a Jeep TJ in New England for the last decade, sold my hardtop in year three and havent looked back. Soft top is louder but so more accessible. I did have to replace it last year so 9 years of life from the factory and it was like 450 bucks for a replacement. NBD.

Ok here’s my worry, maybe someone can correct me on this. For when you wanna remove the hard top, and you put the wiring and the tubing for the washer fluid in it’s secured place. Knowing my low IQ brain and clumsy self. What if I pull the wiper stick on the steering column and pull it or push it in the wrong direction where I active the rear wiper and fluid pours out into the back??? Does the wiring cut off the circuit for that or is there another way other then the stick to turn on the rear wiper?

I have the hard top and have the bestop sunrider for the hard top. So I don't use the freedom panels anymore. When summer gets here I put my factory premium soft top on , and store the hard top standing up on a cart.

+brennantg7 I'm just smarter than the average person with my money, it has absolutely nothing to do with being able to afford a Fiat shitbox death trap on wheels or not, btw how could you possibly know what a complete stranger can or cannot afford? i would really like to know the answer to that one

Does the soft top peel back like the power top? I’d probably only ever take off the two freedom panels and doors.

Chance Fryman In reply to Carlo Santin

Carlo Santin Yes it does. It folds back to about the same position, just a little farther back. About halfway above the rear seats. It’s really nice if you just want to fold it back (takes about 30 seconds) and just hit the road.

When the sun gets too hot or parked close the roof off for no bird poop and still have half doors on it or no door on it

You missed the fact that with the power soft top you can remove the rear windows and still go doorless or half doors for an open top and open middle section

The back window has to stay in. It looks stupid with the side windows out and the back window in. Get the factory soft top. You can go completely topless.

I understand and respect your response. I’ve been in the car business myself but Nope I’m not defending it, It’s truly just so practical, nicer looking as opposed to a black top or pay extra for painted top, less bolts to remove/deal with and actually I have a mesh on mine even when it’s open the sun is not burning hot and stays under the top when closed I don’t need to go replacing or changing out roofs, to softop, hardtop, no top, bikini top, freedom panels on/off, mesh for sun block.... it has all those features pretty much built in and it’s neat to not have rear side windows along with JCR Half doors paint matched lol

Not even close. I sell them and I'm around them daily. It's cool and all but theres no way in hell I'd buy one over the traditional roof. You must have an electrical power retracting roof on yours so you're trying to defend it to make yourself feel better about getting it lol

I've had both hard top and soft top and soft is the only one I buy now. It sucks having to store the hard top and removing it and putting it back on is a pain if you're alone. Plus, you can't put it on if there's a sudden storm and you're out and about. The only down side to a soft top is it leaks after time, but that's fixed with duct tape on the inside for a few years until I feel like buying a new top.

That's the interesting part about Jeep lovers. They put up with the flaws and call it perfect. lol IF I were to ever fall into this .. insanity I would go with soft top for the exact reason you listed here. Because I have done the hard top canopy thing on trucks and while the shell is great on, it is a pain in the tail taking it off alone. (done it alone, it is do-able but a pain) And storage is a pain. Rag tops are flawed, but easy to cope with and probably really worth the flaws for the convenience.
