The all-new 2018 Ford Expedition XLT earns five stars, the highest possible government crash rating, from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s New Car Assessment Program. Ford Expedition XLT is the only SUV in its class to earn an Overall Vehicle Score of five stars in the full-size SUV segment.

“We want our Lincoln clients to feel at ease and confident behind the wheel for an ultimately enjoyable driving experience,” said Andrew Kernahan, chief engineer. “Our innovative technology allows us to enhance that experience while also improving the vehicle’s overall safety.”

Ford Expedition XLT’s lightweight aluminum body, fully boxed steel frame, dual pyrotechnic pretensioners in front seat belts and driver-assist technologies all contribute to it achieving the top rating.

The all-new Ford Expedition XLT offers a host of driver-assist technologies designed to inspire driver confidence. These include Blind Spot Information System, a lane keeping system, enhanced active park assist, auto high beams, 360-degree camera and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability.

So sad to see this big a** truck/SUV perform this poorly!! It's actually almost rolled over on the side impact test....d*mn shame!!
FYI... Ford and other manufacturers shud take note of the new Audi A8 side impact "protection"!!

Im sure they will. Al manufactures learn from each other. Also, the fact that it is a big suv makes it more prone to roll ovwr

Overall, the Expedition Max XLT my 3 rd favorite SUV, because the Suburban and Yukon XL are way better tbh.

      1: Suburban

      2: Yukon XL

3: Expedition Max / Escalade Esv

      4: Navigator L

Cannot see the point of the impact at 1:33. How is that relevant. How many vehicles are shaped to drive at an angle but to impact nice and square to the vehicle?

I drove a 18 for 39 years with no accidents . I’ve seen people do everything but drive! You can’t make a idiot proof car. Get of the cellphone texting , don’t tailgate ,and look left right left before entering a intersection ! The car is only as safe as the driver .

I was just in a wreck and our Expedition did everything it was supposed to do to save my life and my boys' lives! We had no injuries - just sore. To get to school we have to drive on a 2-lane, no shoulder, curvy small highway. Another driver lost control and came into my lane. There was nowhere for me to go - and I am a safe driver....however we were not safe!! (Can't control others!!). My car was totaled - and I will be buying another Expedition! We all walked away from the wreck - upset - but not hurt!

That would make sense, if you controlled how others drive. You do not.

The wall text tests all frontal collisions, not just a brick wall. I was in a head on collision in a 2017 expedition where a car pulled out on us on the highway while we were going 70 mph, and it looked about the same as this one in the wall test.

Evan Nagy ok maybe in your experience but in the three ford products my family has owned they can’t go thru a set of tires without some other malfunction with it but I’d be willing to give them another try because I know that they have been improving there build quality based on what I have heard.
