More East Street Bridge crashes:
More 11foot8 Bridge Crashes:

On July 1st, 2014, a truck carrying 7,000 pounds of lobster slammed into an MBTA rail bridge in Westwood, sparking a fire and huge problems for commuters.

The driver of the 13-foot tall Ryder rental truck tried to clear the 10-foot, 6-inch East Street overpass around 4:50 a.m. and failed.

The truck burst into flames after the crash. Surveillance video captured the impact.

The truck driver, Todd Preston, 26, of Portland, Maine has been charged with operating a motor vehicle negligently so as to endanger and failure to obey municipal signs, according to Westwood Police.

So the city can't place low clearance signs 1/2 mile from the bridge in either direction?that would help, especially for dumbass first time drivers

I don't know if the height restriction got him. If you look, he hit the curb and it bounced his truck over. That particular curb causes quite a few accidents. Not saying it's not his fault but I believe the culprit was the curb.

How did the fire start again?
Reminds me of that one train derailment that made a fire. I like how he sort of takes his time to get out the door but when he’s out he runs.

I'll bet Todd did not think the fire truck was very quick. Now that this is on YouTube, some insurance companies have questions as well.

The watch it burn brigade strikes again! I remember the days when the hose was rolling out the truck before it stopped but nowadays they seem more focused on looking good and figuring out what toys they are going to play with rather than fighting fires

In my parking lot at work, a lady accidentally locked her kid in the car. Luckily it was spring and not that hot. The mother was losing her mind. When the fire department showed up, they slowly got out of the truck and strolled around for their tools. I'm thinking even if the baby is in no immediate danger at least make it look like you're hurrying, this ladies gonna have a stroke!

There is a crashed truck in the middle of the road. Dozens of cars come by.
Not a single one stops and checks whether help is needed? Nobody even calls the police?
Is it a crime in the US to not help people in accidents?

To the best of my recollection, Todd is the first driver to hit both the curb and the bridge at the same time. Usually it's one or the other. I wonder if the redesign will take care of the curb too?

The white pickup with the amber light was from the railroad. The railroad got a crew on scene before the second fire department truck arrived. The slow railroad. Was faster. That's how slow this fire department was. I hope nothing more serious ever catches fire in that town.

All these people who hate on the fire fighters, while having no clue what they need to do, if they're volunteers, what the hazards and operating procedure is.
The real problem I see are the people who do not check on the driver and do not call the emergency services. That would have saved much more time and possibly a life if Todd had stayed unconscious.

They wanted the bridge to burn to the ground because everyone would be better off without it.

The driver has an excuse. He's from Maine and therefore a *"Maine-iac".*
