More East Street Bridge crashes:
More 11foot8 Bridge Crashes:

On July 1st, 2014, a truck carrying 7,000 pounds of lobster slammed into an MBTA rail bridge in Westwood, sparking a fire and huge problems for commuters.

The driver of the 13-foot tall Ryder rental truck tried to clear the 10-foot, 6-inch East Street overpass around 4:50 a.m. and failed.

The truck burst into flames after the crash. Surveillance video captured the impact.

The truck driver, Todd Preston, 26, of Portland, Maine has been charged with operating a motor vehicle negligently so as to endanger and failure to obey municipal signs, according to Westwood Police.

So apparently, Todd was out delivering lobster in his PJs? Is this a common thing in Massachusetts? ;-)

the real failure is not one person stopped there car got out and checked the driver was okay, he couldnt be seen outside of the truck, id have stopped, i have stopped at more than a few accidents to check people are at least okay, i might even have been enclined to locate the fire extinguisher and put that little smoker out.

People today, so fucking self absorbed, but one person stops and does the right thing we have "HEROS"

All thats wrong with the world right there.

I love blackened Lobster... I bet the FFs are volunteer, otherwise they would have had the fire out within 5-10 minutes after arrival on scene. I surely hope the driver lost his job. Part of being a driver, whether truck or car, is to follow the road signs and know the limits regarding height restrictions, especially those that are Shorter than 12' IMHO.

Well technically you aren't aloud to her dressed while the vehicle is in motion because you're seat belt should be on. So if you're in a hurry to get out of the station there you go. But it's piss poor it took them that long to put water on the fire. Even given the opportunity to find out what was burning before they did. And the guy should receive a second ticket for not wearing shoes while driving a commercial vehicle

You know, Just saying, I do not see any fire Dept hookups to get water from. The amount in the truck that they carry with them is extremely limited. By the time they arrived, they made a judgment call that they did not have enough water to put out the blaze, Once it burned down a bit to a manageable level, they took care of the situation. No reason to put lives in danger when everyone is safe.

Shhit...are those firefighters slow. They got their FAST. But then seemed to take FOREVER to start actually 'fighting' the fire.

I wonder if todd got paid for that day...? I sure hope the firemen didn't cuz that was an inexcusably poor effort at doing their job!... They got there so quick that they probably could have kept the fire at bay with the preconnect... wow

The good news is that I'm ok boss. The bad news is that I just burnt up a 100k worth of lobsters. What do you mean, I'm fired? I just said I was ok. The lobsters got burnt lol

Typical of people in the east. Just turn around and not even bother to check if anybody's hurt.

Perfect example of someone who knows nothing about driving a truck rents one and doesn't even bother to think about height restrictions or know how tall is the vehicle he is driving. You do not have to get a CDL to drive a rental truck. Todd is not a real truck driver.

You can tell this is around a big city somewhere. How could you drive up to a bridge where someone just hit it, and turn around and leave? In my area you would have everyone and their brother wanting to help.

In most of the European Nations all those drivers that went by and didint bothet to check on the driver when they were the only ones in the facility and before emergency crews would of been facing criminal charges. Its againt the law in Poland to leave the scene of a automobile accident when 1st or only person on site without trying to help the victim or contact the emergency services. But thats New England for you. Conn Mass Rhode Is home of the worse humans in this country.

So the fire department shows flagrant incompetence and willful negligence and the Blue Mafia lies to cover for them. And not one local resident even stops to see if driver is okay. The entire town is a bunch of assholes.
