Man I could haul more than that on my plastic Big Wheel bike from the 1979-81. I used to ride down this old road past my house and pick up beer cans on the side of the road that people threw from their cars (a lot more then than now) that I thought my older brother wanted for his collection. Mostly Stroh's Light and Schlitz cans. I like the Schaefer...

im not sure what the rules are or what kinds of trucks you can enter, but it would seem that a tractor trailer would be more suited to pull that stuff. (not very fast) but they are built to pull enormous amounts to weight. just hook the trailer up to the 5th wheel and load around 40k pounds on it so the wheel have lots of grip and then hook that thing up to the trailer and im betting it can pull it at some decent speeds.

Has anyone ever experienced a truck pull that went GOOD?
Putting a vehicle you spent a lot of $ on & care about through this kind of torture that ends with eminent engine and/or drive train failure isn't worth whatever the prize is they are offering...

@Gavin Johnson Thanks for your detailed responce, I'm sure it was very frustrating when the driver over did it and damaged the car...

Racing a car is a bit different than a tractor pull. The sled is designed to move its way upward till the vehicle attached pulling it fails. Thats why I commented initially. I used to street race way back in the 1980s (I still have my muscle car) and our cars needing a little work here or there, but they were never destroyed like what happens during a pull. At least it gave us good memories eh... :)

I guess it’s the same as any motorsport at amateur level. I worked for three years as a tech with a Formula Ford team that raced every other weekend for precisely no prize money. The formula we raced in could’ve had prize money but that would’ve just hiked the cost of entering the races in order to raise the cash for a prize fund. We had a driver that paid for all of our costs and we worked on the car as a hobby, he bought the food, the beer and curry in the evenings of a race weekend and we did it all for the fun of racing and gaining experience. We would strip the whole engine down and rebuild it every three or four races and it was all just a good laugh, five of us worked together to make it happen and we travelled around Europe racing at all sorts of circuits. All done for the fun of it and to prove we could repair / rebuild and race a car with no input from a pro team, we won occasionally and drive home after a win felt a whole lot shorter than when our driver wrecked the car or destroyed an engine. You race for the glory and camaraderie, not for the cash 😀

So many angry people in the comments. It never ceases to amaze me how much people complain about what other people do for fun, while claiming how stupid or pointless it is. If you don't like it, and don't ever plan on participating, why do you care so much? Why is it so important for you to enforce your ideals on other people?

Imagine trying to show off and thinking you're going to just magically pull the sled all the way to the parking lot with your daily driver and then you grenade the engine and trans.
