This video was taken after my protune wheel hp 295 and 309 lbs torque : ) I actually accelerate to about 75mph before letting off the gas ! I also launched at only 3500rpm.

stock turbo can still achieve 380bhp with supporting mods and 3.8 seconds to 60 is easily achievable in a newage running 380bhp. its pushing the stock turbo to its max though so won't last long if its constantly pushed like that!

nice man I did a 3.9 today. 2016 STI shortram intake, catless dp, invidia q300 single exhaust, pro tune with the accessport to show for it. 19.5psi stock turbo.

Xennenate - Probably not. 19.5 is nearing the top end of the stock turbo’s efficiency range. However, it should still be relatively safe and last a while.

+Julien Bucci It TORQUE that stress the transmission, not the HP. If it can handle a SUDDEN engagement like this, gears, axles and drive shafts can easily handle anything under 1000 lb of torque that comes on AFTER the trauma of an awd launch. Only thing that might slip is the clutch when that full 800lb or so torque tries to keep accelerate the car already moving at triple digit speed and is crashing in to an air dam.

@Julien Bucci I'm not talking about the transmission, the transmission is completely fine stock even at 500 or so AWHP. I'm talking about the drive train, like diff/axel etc. many people broke the axels with a lot of high rpm launches, the transmission is fine yes..

the 6 speed can take the stress. it's yet to be a problem for so many others. holding over 600 jp. It's different for everyone but 98% of the sti trannys out there have been launched  well above 4500 with no troubles to the transmission

@Julien Bucci It's still putting a lot of stress on the drive train, I normally step it down and launch at 4.5K RPM, seems to work decent for fun haha.

+AWD Spitfire Launching and sti correctly won't stress it nearly as much as a wrx. You should have no problem hammering your 6 speed.

So, I am guessing this wasn't the 3.8 run huh? Because my clock shows 4.2... Hopefully you aren't using access port to log it, their numbers are off. My friend kept boasting about his 4.8 0-60 wrx. Somehow my fwd mx6 gt and his wrx are even every time from a dig. I do 0-60 in 5.4 seconds.

The WRX is a faster car from a dig (assuming both cars are stock) pretty much every time. If he isn't good at driving manual or doesn't want to launch the car it may be a 0-60 in 5.4 second car... otherwise it is pretty easy to do a 0-60 in <5 seconds on a WRX.

Who keeps saying that the engine block cant handle racing?? Aren't these designed to be rally racing cars???? Im not much of an import fan, i do like the idea of descent gas mileage, quick acceleration, and awd, so they can still get around in the snow. Maybe i dont know what some do about these cars, but that makes no sense to me at all!!!

you work on boxer engines for a living....i can tell by your theory's...
i have a wrx engines at 210 000 kms with stage 3 turbo upgrade, trannys dieing but engine still runs like a clock.. and i also have a 02 sti 140 000kms its seen track days no issues runs like a clock.. and im from the canada shit gets cold her in the winter, -20 -30 both start fine. biggest problem i see with subbies are people going cheap on oil, keep that oil topped up and you should be good.

people were arguing about this not being 3.8 secs...so i was bored downloaded it and went frame by frame....starts 16:15 ... ends ~ 20:10....being 23 fps .....so this means start time = 16.65 end time = 20.43....in conclusion -->3.78 secs<-- you're welcome idoits

in your original comment you never said drag racing which is a different story... all you said is "Besides, you'll need to replace it or overhaul the engine around 50k or so" so in this context it sounds like replace at 50k no matter what... If you made the assertion that he would have to rebuild it *if he drove fast and used it for drag racing*, then yes it is reasonable for the engine to go at 50k but in *everyday use* it will go 200k+ Tip: Grammar is important Ref: Preschool

STI blocks are not built for drag racing and hard driving to last very long. That's why they always get rebuilt or overhauled around 50k. Not saying it's not good, just saying they need to be rebuilt. Ref: I work on boxer engines for a living.
