Ford fans have been asking for something to compete with the Corvette for years! Now through an officially licensed Ford product, manufactured by Superformance and Shelby American, we might get just that.

The Shelby GR-1 was one of the last projects Carroll Shelby worked on before his passing, but ultimately, was never produced. Now some lucky Ford fans will get to own this modern interpretation of the daytona coupe.

Lets start a discussion in the comments below.

6 Weeks until our 2019 Ford GT delivery.

looks a little dated and honestly stealing from the Cheetah rear end a little, and a FF5 GTM front end than actually looking like a Daytona Coupe...

That one ugly car especially from the back, and no American sport car will ever overtake America's first sports car, it has to much history and pedigree.

GREAT JOB OF COMBING THE GT 40 AND THE SHELBY DAYTONA INTO A NEW STREET VERSION THAT LOOKS AWSOME,
BRING IT ON AND MAYBE EVEN REPLACE THE NEW GT THAT MAY LOOK GOOD FOR THE TRACK BUT NOT FOR THE STREET
AND LIKE MOST NORTH AMERICANS, I LIKE THE SOUND OF A V8 NOT THE SEWING MACHINE ENGINE IN THE NEW FORD, IT
IS AN AMERICAN CAR, MAKE SOUND LINE ONE AND NOT LIKE A FORMULA ONE CAR.

I think the Le Mans spec 3.5 eco boost would be a better motor the hoonitruck has one based on it and has over 900 hp if they did something like that or used the same one from the Raptor and the GT and tuned it up to 700 that would be pretty cool as well. Personally if I were to buy a gr1 I’d want to get it with the ecoboost sure the predator sounds like a great motor but tbh I like the old gt500’s better and I don’t think it’s needs the 5.2 plus look it at it this way it would be lighter with ecoboost and less weight will make it faster but that’s just my opinion

That's a hand built car . The Corvettes is a mass produced assembly line built car ! The cost difference should be considered wouldn't you say ?

Great looking car. It sounds like it's got great performance too.  But a competitor to a mid-engine Corvette?  No.

I never got people being a ford fan after working in my grandpa's garage for years to me it seemed like they spent more time hooked to a tow truck than driven, just like dodge.
