As I have said before 2.7 and the 3.5 ecoboost have fun good for a lease 13 years plus bought the farm the 5.0 the only choice. Just saying.

My 2.7 developed an oil leak around the oil pan.
Traded it in on a 19 with a 5.0 coyote.. so far fuel mileage is the same as the 2.7 and power is good ..

I think the V8 is the way to go. If that turbo goes that’s a lot of $$$$

2016 with 387hp and 385tq 5.0 or 2017 3.5 with 375hp and 470tq? I am stuck between the two options. Help sway me if you can!

5.0 engine is trash. Oil consumption is hitting it hard.

The V6 does not get significantly better MPG, unless I’m mistaken? The V8 lasts longer and is less problematic than a turbo, long term.

I agree...I really enjoyed driving that V8. The growl of the motor and the power delivery were spot on.

Unfortunately those new 5.0s like burning oil, 2 quarts of oil within 4k mile oil change interval.

Would be interested to hear if you notice any off acceleration rattle or the infamous BBQ tick/knock they are making also.

Well I wouldn't stress on it too much. You may or may not have the issue. All three of my friends were told by the dealership it's an acceptable amount, which of course is complete BS.

Love 2.7 Ecoboost STX Crew 4wd, the lil motor will fly, drive gently 20+ mpg. I got what I could afford and after 2 years 27,000 mile I’d buy the same truck again! Sorry called the engine a motor, the can does say motor oil though?
