Guys, the Taco was slightly backwards from the rock and has a longer wheelbase than the Ranger. Watch at 8:13 & 8:17 minute mark.

The Ranger had all season tires on it, not true off-road worthy tires. Big difference there.

Wtf ....who gives a shit about how fast a truck is? It's about durability, dependability, function & reliability. TOYOTA has all that covered through the test of time.

My 01 Ranger has ~236000 miles on it and still gets used for camping/fishing/trail riding at destinations that are long distances from home. Never had any issues. I'm picking up the new ranger soon.....

Do people buy new pickups and beat them up on the trails? I want reliability! Reliability to me is 250-300k miles of normal everyday use with proper maintenance and no major repairs. You cannot test that. The Ranger's check engine light will most likely burn a hole in your retina. The dealership will become a second home for you and your Ranger. Toyota gets my $.

Man I just test drove both the Ranger and the Colorado. That V-6 in the Colorado might be a better motor over the long run but the Ranger is more comfortable. The Colorado's seats are so stiff 😞

Hey Guys! I've owned a Tacoma and Ranger, currently a 4runner and honestly it comes down to long-term reliability and ease of ownership. A lot of what is not brought up in these reviews is what matters to owners like rust protection, quality welding, parts origin/credibility. How does the company handle recalls? Are the dealerships in-line with higher-level customer service, or do I gotta fight them everytime something goes wrong with their product? Culture is VERY important and Toyota in my opinion excels at it. Just look at the stickshift option. Enough said.

Picking up my 2019 Taco TRD Off Road tomorrow.... Ford is way over priced in the Canadian market PLUS, I can't wait to see the price the Ford is worth after 2-3 years of use...  looses value WAY too quickly to be a good buy.   Lease only maybe....

Could you guys review a Tacoma TRD Off Road or Ranger in 2wd with the licking rear diff? I don’t need 4wd but I haven’t seen anyone review the 2wd variants with the locking rear diffs.

How about trying to build an affordable truck that would be a game-changer so people would decide to buy Ford instead of Toyota if it's for work and not climbing Mount Everest or even day-to-day miscellaneous things. When are manufacturers going to learn that price is a consideration. I don't want to win the Indy 500 I just want to go to the grocery store and deliver a mattress once in awhile.

I think I'd rather have the Toyota since it's proven, my last Ford wasn't great my last Toyota was. I think it'll take some time for anyting steers me away from Toyota.

I’m currently driving a Ranger rental with 5k on the clock while my Taco is getting some body damage from a falling tree limb repaired, so far I like the Rangers power and brakes better than the Taco. The Taco’s steering and on and off road ride is superior. Cab comfort for me at 6’6” goes to the Ranger. The main reason I went with the Taco in the first place is the Toyota reputation for reliability long term, I don’t believe that the Ranger will hold up as well in the long run. The turbo while way smoother in its power delivery Will put added strain on the motor, the auto shut off auto start at stop lights or in traffic will put added strain on the electrical system and starter and the general build quality doesn’t seem to be the same. All in all for me I think I made the right decision but only time will tell.

The Ford Ranger. I like my truck to be comfortable more like a car than feel and handle like a truck. My usage is everyday and highway driving. Off road is secondary, only when I need it.

I see alot of Toyota owners taking about how reliable they are and the most i have seen is 180k miles i have a 96 f150 with 280k and my son has 01 f150 with 300k i think American trucks or just as reliable as your over rated Toyota

Even though I'm a Chevy man myself, I'd still pick a Ford over Japanese junk any day
(But I'm good with my 1994 Silverado 5.7 v8, I will never be driving one of them soyboy 2.3 L 4 bangers)
