Land Rover says that the new Range Rover Velar is the best driver's car it has ever made. It's a sensational looking beast, slightly less rugged than full-fat Range Rovers, but still has four-wheel drive and Land Rover's Terrain Response control.

But it is better than, say, the Porsche Macan or an Audi SQ5? Find out here.

Saw one in St. Petersburg, Russia a few weeks ago. Great looking vehicle, but I’d never buy! Jeep is superior!

I test drove the Velar HSE Dynamic 3.0d. Lovely car, but by the time you add a few extras to make it a proper luxury car, it cost a bomb. JLR seem to have taken the Porsche route in gouging customers for “extras” that should be standard. Getting the car up to a decent spec, the on road price in Australia ran up to $150k. Too much. The next Evoque might benefit from the Velar styling.

I "LOVE" how TATA, OOPS! I mean, Jaguar, OOPS! I mean Land Rover?????? Anyways, whatever.
I "LOVE" how whomever designed these cars thought that those ridiculous deployable door-pulls would be justified if they told people, "They're more aerodynamic, and help with fuel economy."
      Really you guy's? REALLY?????
Is there an actual, perceptible gain you've calculated that shows these gimmicks as anything but?
But then again..... Just look at JLR's head of "design or whatever." Then you'll understand why their vehicles are ALL (FLASH-OVER-FUNCTION) these days. Knockoff quality and materials, sold at genuine designer prices. That's the JLR promise.

Good for going to the polo in your gum boots, but if the polo riders smack the ball into it... no biggy, for the rich 80,000 pounds is

Fundamentally it has too many screens and is a tad expensive, but fundamentally the crowd who buys these won't be bothered.

British cars really are the ultimate these days. This has the finest interior of any luxury car period. Audi, Mercedes, Porsche and BMW look dated in comparison. And nothing comes close to the off-road capability of a Land Rover product.
