My commute into work today - I averaged 46.7 mpg
These new Jettas can get killer gas mileage.

With high test gas my 2016 gets 45 MPG on the Highway , I had mind for 3 years trouble free . And put on rear tires to pass inspection , and of course oil changes. That has been it and with the clutch it has power .Only complaint if you need work or maintenance do not bring it to the dealer , There bad and will take advantage of you big time . Example just 2 tires 400 bucks its a jetta not a Mercedes , Took it to a tire shop house brand 171 bucks out the door . For the money its good you like the car

I currently drive the SE Jetta - Love it! My next Jetta I want the SEL (digital dash), not necessarily the Premium with those fake exhaust tips in the rear.

The stereo on anything below the SEL trim is absolute garbage! Had the 2016 Jetta Sport and re-lease a 2019 R-Line. Nice car, drives fine, some nice safety adds, proximity sensor door locks BUT the stereo system BLOWS. The 2016 non-Fender stereo on the Sport was perfect for our needs and included SiriusXM in the head. This stereo is a JOKE. You will have to pony up a few thousand more for the better entertainment system. What a shame.

Does anyone out there know why this model has a one tone lighter colored interior whereas all the ones available are a two tone Gray Black interior. Is this a European version or possibly a custom trim for the commercial.

    • MahatmaPech
MahatmaPech In reply to Ed Monkiewicz

Ed Monkiewicz probably not European because no one in Europe buys a Jetta

I have a 2019 Jetta SEL, luxury car at a reasonable price so far I am getting 41 MPG.
As of the 1.4 engine 147 Horse power 183 torque, it’s more than enough.
I am thinking of buying another one.

I am using 87, and I drive in the economy mode all the time . I am getting 41 MPG 60% highway 40% city. I have a 2018 corolla I stopped driving it since I bought my Jetta.
The adaptive cruise control is amazing even in heavy traffic, it slows down and accelerate without pressing the gas pedal. The beats sound system is very good. The lane departure is very effective, the blind spot protection brings you back to your lane if the is a car next to you ( of course you can override it ). The Apple CarPlay is amazing. Believe me you will love the car.
The engine power 1.4 turbo is more than enough.

maher bashawry - Thank you for your information and offer to test drive it. I live in IL, so it’s a bit of a distance . Thank you, anyway. It will be interesting to test drive and see how it handles, rides and check out the stereo system. If I would purchase it, I would go with the SEL. It’s what I have now and really like it. What octane gas do you use with It? Right now, with my hybrid, I have to use a high octane for the turbo injection.

Worst Jetta EVER. Neva get a Jetta.. SIGh. This Jetta is underPowered. Americanized and totally dumbed down even down to the floating American style suspension set up.

VW might be able to vindicate themselves with the GLI this Jetta is a total disaster.

the 2019 GLI is going to be 22o HP i would go with that, fuel savings is the only advantage.

Nah, not underpowered, this new Jetta is just under 3k lbs. It's super light. And the engine is already getting lots of awards. Matter of fact, new MK7 Jetta is runner up for best new car awards for N.America. so yeah-you are wrong.

Not bad but this new Jetta looks HUGE. Jetta´s were compact vehicles but now they have become almost full size sedans.

Car is actually not bad. A lot of people here drives Toyotas and Fords and talk shit as if they drive a 70k benz.
Car cool. But to have 147 HP in a Turbo charged i4 is so lack luster, and that low torque.
The auto start stop, is a gimmick. Should have invested into another cooler and useful gimmick. Like you know automatic opening trunk, Front facing parking camera.
      Car is decent looking.
