In stock tune the 1971 had the most power, because the 351C engine still had a high compression ratio, about 10.7 to 1. In 1972 they dropped the compression, about 8.6 to 1 to run on low lead and no lead gasoline, so a lot of power was sapped out. In 1973 they added EGR so even more power was sapped out. I'm sure many are now modified to bring the power back up, and then some.

I sat in one of these at an autofair at Charlotte Motor Speedway back in the early 80's, of course being a young kid I loved it. And weird little thing was the radio was sideways in the center console.

I'd like to find one with a rough/bad/worn out paint job so i can do a custom airbrush Pantera Cowboys From Hell & other album logos/artwork on it without feeling guilty about ruining a nice original preserved or restored paint job.

Ford never made a better car than a Pantera; you got ALL the style and panache of a genuine Italian exotic but your Craftsman tool kit will fix most of it. You sure can't say that about today's crop of digital supercars!

Hockey legend, Tim Horton, died in one of these. He was driving very fast and lost control of the car. He died just as his donut business was getting off the ground. If he were alive today he’d be amazed at how successful the business has become.

No bragging, no stupid remarks, Jay Leno in every video just puts out a good story, with fun remarks but never too funny, always shows he loves cars and knows his stuff, and with this episode he gets in touch with a Pantera know it all who also does a lot of talking. So much fun to watch this and get to know a car I had for a long time in matchbox scale ;-)

If I could own a "supercar" it would be a '71 Pantera. One of the best looking cars ever.

The rear view of those cars are timeless.
The exhaust, the gearbox, those tires....
      Nothing better.

I think you had to purchase a Pantera at the Lincoln- Mercury dealerships .
I remember my dad looking at a new Lincoln & there was a new Pantera next to it. I said hey Pop , buy that Pantera. He said it was a " piece of crap". LOL

Should've had Honda build thjs car. It wouldve been much more reliable and fuel efficient.

The problem with this particular car is the wheels. They came right of the ugly shelf. 🤢
It could have two-piece rims for example, anything that doesnt looks so bulky.

The rest of the car is mint though, like these Panteras very much, especially the butt is sexy!

I saw my first Pantera at a stoplight in Beverly Hills, CA. It was 1971 and I was 20 years old and in the military. My friend and I were totally blown away by the looks and sound of this amazing looking super car. When the light changed, the Pantera literally looked like it lifted off the ground and zoomed away. Never forgot that image and the Pantera made its indelible mark on me...

I think this is the best looking super car ever. Only the Matra Murena comes closest. You MUST get one of those, Jay. Mr Drew gets my respect for his total dedication to fulfil his wish. Better man than me.
