This ultra-clean Mitsubishi Starion is a street car, and has never been on a race track before. But it was so cool we couldn't help but see how it would hold up to a few laps, and its owner was an incredibly good sport. Aside from brakes not entirely up to track work, the 400+ horsepower 1JZ, chassis, and steering were shockingly competent, lap after lap.

Put your seat back Lurch....u look cramped lol. We need more of this and less "added a turbo/supercharger".

Nice engine swap, nice car. I had an '85 Chrysler Conquest, stock engine. It was the first and only turbo car I had. I have a story with that car because of the turbo, I was overconfident, floor it in a curve, boost kicked in, the car oversteered I couldn't control it, well I ended seeing at the wrong way

I was lightly trying to keep up with one of these tuner built in my stock 93 tbird SC without getting into trouble late at night and he just walked away in a serious way. The fat rear meats and the racing fuel put a smile on my face

Mitsubushi actually make an engine called the 4G63, they go pretty hard. Why swap in a Toyota engine...

Man, I've always had a soft spot for the Starion/Conquest platform. I'm not sure why, really, as I only remember riding in one once or twice. I've always liked 'different', I guess.

Nice build. Nice to see it mildly tracked. Looks like it would be an excellent track day car with a bit more tuning...

Starioms really were a, remarkable car of the early 80’s. In fact they were renowned back in the day for their makes.

The stock two litre turbo in the JA I had in Australai. Didn't deliver enough low end out of the hole torque so the tubos were always raced for boost and I had three raptor rebuilt and up spaced with a Mocro Tech racing computer. When I destroyed them forth 2 litre engine, or was time to get a front cur from Japan and insert a Nossam V6 three litre turbo.

That was Mitsubishi should have done from the get go, two more was not enough cubes, for such a brilliant balanced sports car with a heavy curb weight. Abiet very fast and able undermboost, not so much off the mark.

I loved my Starion through all its incarnations throughout the 1980’ and 1990’s, parts eventually became impossible to source.

A station with a bog ass bog torque and KW with a twin turbo, makes a retro weapon that is magic.

      Loved your video, AGrade👍🇦🇺

I dont understand he says understeer but he is turning to early into the Corner XD then panics and then sharply turns it then says understeer. Usually the user is at fault not the equipment.

If your hating on the brakes, you must have never driven "track dedicated" brakes or "track tires." Street cars with that will send you to an early grave.

Isn´t there that one rule that says tuning starts with the brakes? If there is no such rule there should be one.
