Ten years ago Jaguar launched the XF to replace the dated S Type. It was a brave move at the time. A decade later you can now pick up early ones for only £4,000! Should you actually buy one though?

You know nothing about cars if you bought one of these. What a poor piece of shit . The money thats going to fall off the price of your car during 2019 will leave you sour about buying a car again. There is nothing good to say abouts these cars hence why the company are uo shit creek and about to sell to the french. The re sale of this car is worth around the same as a renault clio. Jag owners are living in the past and are simply a laughing stock amongst people who know about real cars !!!

The ride and styling means nothing if the rest of the car is unreliable , i was thinking of buying one but after owning bmw for so long the jaguar just couldnt pull the wool over my eyes, cheap satnav units , wooden style dashes , rear doors filling with water the list was endless. Settled for a bmw 640d gran coupe which to me is 3 times better than any jag

Excellent review. I just purchased a 2016 XF Prestige and agree completely. It is a joy to drive. I've never driven something so comfortable and enveloping in luxury. As you say in the XJ review, I just drive down the road smiling. It is effortless to drive. No engine hesitation whatsoever when you step on the gas. There are so few of them on the road, as well. I rarely ever see a Jag any more. Everyone has a BMW or Merc or Tesla. They are common. Not the Jag. And heads turn. Thank you for the XF review and the XJ review which is excellent, as well. I'd be interested in your thoughts on F-Pace if you ever drive one.

I've got the 2008 3.0 V6 petrol low mileage and almost full service history, in the oyster grey same as the one you're driving. But there are design issues that leather dash bubbles up when exposed to too much sun the rear boot loom is 1cm too short and so breaks with boot opening, also after 2010 the water pump when it leaks which it does often the water drips onto a wire that runs straight into the CJB pre 2010 that wire runs into a much less critical junction box. One of the most irritating things though is the wiring in the doors that comes loose and rattles, its £60 to fix at a Jag specialist. Its also the most expensive car I've ever had to maintain, my Lexus IS220D sport I had previously was a quarter of the money per year.
I love the Jag and in terms of drive train it's been very reliable and it's definitely the smoothest car I've ever driven, it looks great and sounds awesome. Like I said I picked mine up for £6500 which is a lot of car for the money but the maintenance is high.
I think my next car will be another Lexus probably the 2013 LS 460 awd or F sport.
More car for less maintenance costs.

What’s gets me is that this is the premium luxury model I think he called it from 2010 and my mums 2003 Toyota Prado Grande, although it had every option is top of the line and then more options unavailable to regular buyers is far more luxurious then this, for a lot less money. The interior on this is all plastic and cheap, the same on brand new jaguars. These are extremely unreliable with expensive maitenance costs, while the Prado is the exact opposite, and is a very capable off road car, very comfortable etc

I have e a 09 xf. Never had any problems outside of the regular maintenance. I changed the brakes to full ceramic. The reason was the original brakes throw dust everywhere within days of washing it. I don't feel a difference in braking but I see no dust anymore for the last 5 years. (Fyi the original brakes wear very very fast). But sadly now my transmission just went out( slipping). Getting new transmission now. 3k plus torque converter. Oh I forgot I did have one of my rotating air vents stop rotating. It costs about 400 bucks to fix. Mu car has 160k miles on it.

To say that a 3.0 Jaguar diesel is sooo much better than an almost identical 2.7 is just as ridiculous as to state that a 3.8 XK engine is sooo much better than a 3.4.
