The new 2019 Subaru Ascent starts at $31,995. In this video we test the Limited, which features an upgraded interior and tech for $42,920 including destination and options. Plus, we give it a 0-60 run and compare it to the other new 3-row crossover, the Volkswagen Atlas.

Just traded in my highway only driving of the Subaru Ascent. New transmission at 40K. Bad CVT!! They did not get it right!!! I can't afford to replace my transmission every 40k. :( Got a Lexus instead.

Subaru is back with bad c/s ... whaaat??!

Bad paint on my front bumper!!! started coming off from a bad original paint’g from factory- car is just a bit over 2 months
still waiting to hear back from Subaru as to if they will honor & fix this bad paint job!!??? 5th time my new car will be in the shop !!
other stuff that had to be taken care of: bad front speaker when getting ready to pick up my newly purchased vehicle, 2x bluetooth issues and background noise, and passenger side molding at dash and roof between front windshield & side window was just hanging loose and away from its placement ??? have no idea why that jiggled free??
      So far, pretty disappointed !!
my husbands Outback has been wonderful
So sad .... possibly the Ascent is in high demand and quality control slipping Subaru??!

No one told me this, but you can get a 1 month free trail of wifi from AT&T for your subaru, and their unlimited data plan is $25 a month. Comes in handy when traveling, or limited data phone plans while also traveling.

We ended up buying one in limited trim.. it's honestly awesome. I love the car. Did the research, shopped around hardcore, purchased it 5k below msrp. I woulda loved the touring package... but I got what was could afford. Finding out, that having the cameras and eye sight , really makes you feel safer, and the features of backing up, and the car let's u know if it sees something before you do which is so great.

Our Forester XT was our second Subaru and first with eyesight. I couldn't imagine buying another vehicle without eyesight, so that is exactly what we did today. Proud owners or our 3rd Subaru which being the new Ascent.

Hi great video, I love my ascent! But I wanted to know if the windows tinted have uv protection..? The dealer says it does, but window tinting services tell me the stock tinted windows don’t... do you know?

Quick note to your comment about Android Auto maps and data connection. Actually you DO NOT need data connection for Google Maps. Just download the area you will be traveling to and you are all set, you can even put your phone to Airplane Mode and maps will still work. You gonna loose traffic info only.

LOVE the look of Subaru,s but,,,WHY such a bad choice of exterior and interior colors and color mix ??? Met green, yes but only with cream interior ?? NO !! Met blue,YES again but with only cream ?? NO again. These are meant for outdoor life ,mud sand, snow ,camping .One weekend and the interior is looking grubby !! .Come on SUBARU give us what we want and need,a serviceable colored interior with a desirable exterior, please.

Love this vehicle. Still made me laugh though when he put the pedal to the medal. I know people aren't going to be buying this for racing, but that take off still made me laugh though.

+Robert Medina Hi Robert. I loved everything about this car and was all set to buy when I decided to check out the Ascent Forum. There are enough stories of people that have had CVT issues and replacements and a struggle with Subaru to get theirs fixed, that I decided to wait to buy. Eventually they will get the new model up to snuff, but for me I'm out until they do.

That only works if you pre-load the maps. If you decide after the fact to use nav, you’re up a creek. Not everyone is a prepared Cub Scout like yourself.

Auto Vehicle Hold has nothing to do with hill descent control. It's just a feature to hold your vehicle when you've come to a complete stop. You can take your foot off the brake and it will not move the car unless you press the gas.

It's close, but probably Ascent. Though, if you didn't really need the extra space, the Outback is easier to maneuver around parking spaces.

I certainly hope somebody at Subaru reads this, things I did not like that they can fix number one the armrest very uncomfortable when the seat is pushed back I'm 6 foot two, number to the forward-looking camera way too small difficult to see and has no warnings sensors,Number three, that 8 inch screen seems very small compared to my 2018 Subaru outback touring, other than that I love the car

I appreciate the review, but with all the details it would be really helpful if you told us the GCWR! Towing ratings are often established assuming a driver of 150lbs and nothing else in the car. It would be very, very helpful to have you read off the label on that Limited model and give us payload, GVWR and GCWR! Thank you for reading.

Great vid!!! Super helpful. I’ve had the new Pacifica limited for a year now and am looking to switch to this instead. Random stuff keeps shorting out, too many bells and whistles maybe. Been caught in too many scary situations in the Colorado mountains in blizzards with my Pacifica to want to keep it. I need a mountain ride that will fit the 4 kids :)

      @ Department:
Well, Subaru IS the "National Car of Colorado" so yes, you may want to get one!
Had a Subaru Crosstrek XV when I lived there in Colorado Springs 3 years (then got a 2016 Honda Pilot EX-L AWD just before leaving). Needed a mid-size SUV that could tow 5000lbs and Subaru had no suitable model back then (March 2016). My choice was narrowed to the 2016 Pilot or 2016 Toyota Highlander -- chose the pilot (for several reasons).
NOW, however, is I were looking the Ascent would be on the Short List...but I'm not sure how well (meaning wear & tear-wise) a CVT will hold up over time towing "up to 5000lbs."
Whatever, I have the Pilot now and will be keeping it a few years more -- it's been fine so far and no issues with it (except a 12v accessory socket). I have my 5K towing capacity AND an outstanding AWD system (Accura-like SH-AWD).
Liked my Crosstrek XV (except the most uncomfortable seats for road trips!)...but with All-Season tires on it in the Winter, it can STILL slide into curbs during snowstorms DESPITE it's excellent "Symmetrical AWD System" (don't ask how I know). Were I still living in CO, would be putting Snow Tires on it for the season...on whatever AWD SUV I had then.
Snow tires are WAY cheaper than your first accident will be, plus to remind you monthly of the incident, increased insurance premiums. ;-)
Happy and safe AWD-ing...whatever you're driving!
