The new 2019 Subaru Ascent starts at $31,995. In this video we test the Limited, which features an upgraded interior and tech for $42,920 including destination and options. Plus, we give it a 0-60 run and compare it to the other new 3-row crossover, the Volkswagen Atlas.

Great review Ryan! Which vehicle is more off road capable? Atlas with 4Motion or Ascent? Also, does the Atlas do torque vectoring like the Ascent? Thank you!!

For 40000.00 price I want a 300 hp plus 6 A 4 is a 4 joke they are beating that midget engine up with turbo and torquing it. Just put a 6 in it and I will be first in line to buy it. Love my outback

A turbo is only works when you put your foot down hard and engage it. A turbo beats that tiny motor up This vehicle is too large for a small engine like this. Hope they come out with a 6 option. The up the torque as they know the engine is a puke

Hope they come out with 6 cylinder 300 hp version. This weighs 4500 pounds with cargo loaded 5500 to 5700 pounds. They put a 2.4 tiny 4?in it. The turbo does not help it beats that little engine up when you engage it. They knew it's inadequate so they torqued the engine up. It's a nice vehicle but I will wait til they offer a 6 or not buy one. I love my outback so this is disappointing Put the ac on when fully loaded in 90 degree heat. Guess what it's now a 3 cylinder

The Subaru 2.4 is larger than the ecoboost in the Ford Ranger. The H6 is dead. Subaru can easily do 300+ HP with their turbo engines. Their H6 never had much torque or HP for the displacement. It was a 6 for people that wanted a 6... it wasn’t really ever much better than the turbo four options.

Ascent, 5 door, "STI off-road" version please. With a spare tire, slightly higher ground clearance, rear LSD and CVT oil cooler. In Japanese market.
Come on Subaru - go back to your routes. STI should be offering off-road upgrades for their rugged models.
These upgrades would lift the price $1500 if done on a factory level.

Just traded in my highway only driving of the Subaru Ascent. New transmission at 40K. Bad CVT!! They did not get it right!!! I can't afford to replace my transmission every 40k. :( Got a Lexus instead.

Subaru is back with bad c/s ... whaaat??!

Bad paint on my front bumper!!! started coming off from a bad original paint’g from factory- car is just a bit over 2 months
still waiting to hear back from Subaru as to if they will honor & fix this bad paint job!!??? 5th time my new car will be in the shop !!
other stuff that had to be taken care of: bad front speaker when getting ready to pick up my newly purchased vehicle, 2x bluetooth issues and background noise, and passenger side molding at dash and roof between front windshield & side window was just hanging loose and away from its placement ??? have no idea why that jiggled free??
      So far, pretty disappointed !!
my husbands Outback has been wonderful
So sad .... possibly the Ascent is in high demand and quality control slipping Subaru??!

No one told me this, but you can get a 1 month free trail of wifi from AT&T for your subaru, and their unlimited data plan is $25 a month. Comes in handy when traveling, or limited data phone plans while also traveling.

We ended up buying one in limited trim.. it's honestly awesome. I love the car. Did the research, shopped around hardcore, purchased it 5k below msrp. I woulda loved the touring package... but I got what was could afford. Finding out, that having the cameras and eye sight , really makes you feel safer, and the features of backing up, and the car let's u know if it sees something before you do which is so great.

Our Forester XT was our second Subaru and first with eyesight. I couldn't imagine buying another vehicle without eyesight, so that is exactly what we did today. Proud owners or our 3rd Subaru which being the new Ascent.

Quick note to your comment about Android Auto maps and data connection. Actually you DO NOT need data connection for Google Maps. Just download the area you will be traveling to and you are all set, you can even put your phone to Airplane Mode and maps will still work. You gonna loose traffic info only.

+Robert Medina Hi Robert. I loved everything about this car and was all set to buy when I decided to check out the Ascent Forum. There are enough stories of people that have had CVT issues and replacements and a struggle with Subaru to get theirs fixed, that I decided to wait to buy. Eventually they will get the new model up to snuff, but for me I'm out until they do.

Auto Vehicle Hold has nothing to do with hill descent control. It's just a feature to hold your vehicle when you've come to a complete stop. You can take your foot off the brake and it will not move the car unless you press the gas.

It's close, but probably Ascent. Though, if you didn't really need the extra space, the Outback is easier to maneuver around parking spaces.

I certainly hope somebody at Subaru reads this, things I did not like that they can fix number one the armrest very uncomfortable when the seat is pushed back I'm 6 foot two, number to the forward-looking camera way too small difficult to see and has no warnings sensors,Number three, that 8 inch screen seems very small compared to my 2018 Subaru outback touring, other than that I love the car

I appreciate the review, but with all the details it would be really helpful if you told us the GCWR! Towing ratings are often established assuming a driver of 150lbs and nothing else in the car. It would be very, very helpful to have you read off the label on that Limited model and give us payload, GVWR and GCWR! Thank you for reading.
