I have a 2017 le. Have not driven a 19 yet so im a little biased. The 19 wheel covers are horrible. You can see the wheel theough them pushing me to upgrade for an alloy. Also not a fan of electrical options. Just seems like more expensive repairs in the future. Positives more hp and torque with better fuel economy is outstanding along with better safety features. I like the design of the 18 better but that is all perception to personal likes. If i honestly had to choose I would save some money and buy the out going model (all the kinks are worked out) and lease the 19. Maybe buy later on when toyota does their little tweeks to make things better. Or just wait another 10 years when these cars start driving themselves. Who knows maybe sooner.

Toyotajeff in Raleigh 2019 hands down. My 2010 is a tank though! (Both in its reliability and its spartan interior— AM/FM radio for entertainment!). Looking forward to picking one of these up used in 5-6 years time

Great review. Don’t like the obtrusive info screen on the 2019 model. Unfortunately most car companies seem to be in love with not integrating the screens into the dash.

Loving the new 2019 might wait until 2020 to trade in my trusted 02 4Runner but I’m definitely tempted! Looks like a cross between Subaru and Jeep Grand Cherokee

I love the 2018 ! But then again I bought one last year ! ;) I like the front grill on the 2018 much better and the doors are smooth not indented for looks like the 2019. The 2019 looks more boxy and more male looking.. do not like the wheels on the 2019 or the interior. I like 2018 display screen better then the way they displayed 2019 with it sticking up. The 2018 back end tail lights look so much better then the 2019 plus I like the details better. So glad I bought my 2018 Rav 4 last year 2018 ! Love the look so much better ! Love my car ! :)

Getting my new 2018 Rav4 awd Hybrid (pearl white) next week. Can't wait. Tested both, new one is more modern, no question about it but outgoing model also very solid. Tablet mounted on dashboard is quite ugly on new model but it's the trend at the moment almost among all new cars. But the main thing - price. In my country new rav4 awd hybrid (with specs I was looking for) I was made an offer of 36170€ (40653$). Almost same specs (missing rear collision warning and wireless phone charging, but gain premium leather seats instead of cloth ones on new 2019 model) 2018 model I paid 31700€ (35629$) It's the best time to buy outgoing model of Rav4 hybrid. New one is good but is it worth extra 4k € (5k $)... it wasn't for me. All the best!

We just bought a new left over 2018 LE. I like the looks of the 2019, but have concerns about the new 8-speed transmission (which reportedly shifts kinda weird in low gear), and also, I never buy the first year of a re-design, especially when major powertrain components are involved, no matter how reputable the manufacturer. Even Toyota can make mistakes, and likely they have different sources for redesigned components like electronics, and so on.. So far the consumer reports on the 2018s are very good, though time will tell, I guess. Also, with a price difference of only $800 for the redesigned model, you can bet that something had to give, like the use of cheaper materials, etc, in order to equalize the prices of both models. Also, I like the black fabric of the 2018s, as in my experience, the lighter Toyota fabrics are prone to permanent staining (e.g., water stains).

2018 is better looking. Why would Toyota make the new RAV4 look like a Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk with those squared off wheel wells.

I do like the raised monitor in the front. And it has more mpg in the 2019, which is appericated in a larger vehicle. The outside of the 19 is not as attractive in my opinion. I almost thought it resembled a mazda. But quickly changed my mind on that. .
Umm overall, i think ill choose the '18 still.
Would be nice if the '18 had better gas mileage and a raised monitor.

Never buy the first car of a redesign because their still working out the kinks. I'd go for the 2018 since it's the last of the 4th generation models or wait for the 2020 or 2021 models.

The 2019 RAV4 looks great with those double exhaust pipes. It's a welcome change for sure. The boxey front profile gives it a more masculine look. I love the bigger grille at the front; it's definitely more pronounced and looks aggressively stylish and sporty. Also, I love the new gear shifter as opposed to the 2018 shifter. The old shifter looks too flimsy and lacks that much needed rugged appearance that is now present. The raised Infotainment screen looks great as well as the whole dash layout. Very Mazda cx5/Cx9 like interior looking. Although not quite as elegant and upscale as the Mazda; however, it's a step in the right direction. If you ask me, I choose the 2019 RAV4 over last year's model.

the 2018 looks the best. they could have just added the new features without turning it into a tank. that's what i liked about the 2016-2018 design. it looked like a mini suv. i mean i always wanted a range rover, but i never saw that as a rav4 design. i just personally dont like it
