Picked up my '18 Accord Hybrid Touring last week and driving extremely conservative (EV mode when possible), I got 55.7 mpg city, with some highway driving. But overall averaging high 40s to low 50s mpg. This is a beautiful car all the way around and fun to drive.

Have been driving my 2018 Honda hybrid Touring since the end of May. I live in South Florida where the roads are very flat and I drive on I-95. I have never gotten close to the 47 mpg on any full tank. More likely 38-39 mpg. I know you will say drive slower. I set cruise control on 68 mph and I barely touch the gas pedal when accelerating in the city. Drive all the time in eco mode.

When I am on the highway both the electric motor and the gasoline engine work together.

+Stuie F I have a kia Niro and it's a hybrid. When I drive 45mph and under the electric motor stays on most of the time from home to work and for short trips. The gasoline engine will start when I accelerate or go up a hill.I guess the ECU is different for the Cars.

Claude Benford i have tried everything. Trust me. Electric motor doesn’t last long with a hybrid. Can’t even go two miles on a full charge. Again it’s a hybrid not an electric vehicle.

Give your self more time to your destinations, slow down and the electric motor more and the gas usage will go down.

radiant, red, metallic and HYBIRD?.....total turn off..plus I really can't see the advantage of a Hybrid in terms of cost savings. You end up with other costs that offsets the slight gas cost savings on the long run. In addition, you comprise on the ecstatics when u go hybrid..exp: wheels are smaller, body looks sluggish ..I'll stick to my V6 2017..

Can't wait for your review on this car. At 2:23 you mention paddle shifters. The regular Accords have paddle shifters. The hybrid version uses those paddles to increase or decrease your regenerative braking on the car to help with fuel economy.

Enjoy your car. I've been driving my Red 2018 Accord Hybrid since Memorial Day. My main gripe is that in the hot summer months I have been averaging around 38-39 mpg, not the 47 mpg that is advertised. I mostly drive in the ECON mode. Let me know how you do.

I'd love to hear how it does going up a hill on the highway...I'm seriously considering a Radiant Red EX-L Hybrid in the near future, but frequently drive on the highway through the mountains - and I'm curious both how it sounds and how that affects MPGs.

As an owner, you will soon discover that the highway milage is closer to 40mpg than the unrealistically rated 47. At highway speeds, 65 or 70 mph, with cruise on, it is impossible to achieve the EPA estimates. In town the EPA estimates are pretty realistic and at times you can far exceed the rated 47. Also this car does not have a CVT. And what appears to be paddle shifters, are not. They allow the driver to adjust the regenerative braking. The left paddle increases it, the right paddle decreased it. The Heads Up Display, while it is very pretty and in color when using the navigation, if you wear polarized sun glasses, you will not see the display. Apparently the light generated by the HUD is polarized. What is most surprising is the power and acceleration of this vehicle. It is very quick. Honda also is currently having issues with their App as it can no longer longer unlock the car or read the odometer or range from the vehicle. As of September 2018 this issue is still unresolved. Insofar as the safety features, they all work very well and the vehicle will stop if someone pulls out in front of you or is racing through a parking lot while you are backing up.
