Mini and fiesta may be good cars to drive, but their reliability ratings are questionable. I guess you have not considered reliability for this list.

Cooley, your brain must be malfunctioning!!!! Ford is absolutely one of the worst car manufacturers in the world, next to General Motors!!!! GM can build a truck but, the car market is absolute junk for this era!!!! Imports all day long for reliability and fuel economy!!!!!

I'd like someone to do a review of the top  affordable cars after 50,000 and 100,000 miles.  Why do car review always end after they leave the showroom?  You would think, hopefully, that they are all in working order when they are brand new.

That number one should be an Subaru Impreza being its base is $19,215.

      I guess it wasn't CNET-rated?

Lol, makes me laugh when people say "Mazda Mazda3". Behind the car you can only read "Mazda3" which means it is a Mazda "3".

what happened to reliability consideration? you chose one of the most unreliable cars such as mini cooper and the fiesta... come on... reliability should be the most important aspect

Nabil M. The fiestas flaw was the DCT automated transmission. It was terrible. With the fiesta ST however, it's manual or nothing. It will be about as reliable as a wood burning stove.

but mini did score well in europe 2016 at least in Germany. One of my family members has a mini with 170K on clock and the problem till now in 5 years of ownership, was something with the turbo that was replaced and it was not expensive. I know it also depends from car to car. Some old mazdas would run problem free for many thousand kilometers, while some say that mazda became lesser reliable due the new eletronics.

Exactly what I was thinking. We had to replace the engine in my sister's 2008 Mini Cooper S with only 60,000 miles. Avoid them like the plague, especially with a turbo. I wouldn't buy another Ford either. We now have a 2015 CX-9 with the 3.7 V6. In 2016 they went to a turbo four cylinder. No thanks.

2 mazda on the list that show how much Mazda pays Cnet to make this (advertising) video! And I think Audi/VW got a part of this too. This is just a paid advertising video. All of these car on this list has the worst reliability and the worst sale. And they are not really that "affordable". There are more affordable cars that are more reliable than the ones on this list. It's just they didn't pay Cnet to make this video.

Mazda has been really nailing their cars as of late. It's such a shame that they don't sell as well here in the U.S. They deserve far more credit than the public gives them.
