So I am thinking of buying a 2005 TL that has 175,000 miles is it worth the buy for $4,000?!

It all depends on condition. You need to immediately replace the starter, right front drive axle, left front drive axle and timing belt if they are all still original. Those items break after 100,000 miles and any one of those will leave you stranded. I have 288,000 on my 2005 TL with original engine and transmission.

I bought a fully loaded 2005 TL in pristine condition and low mileage for $10K. I feel like I hit the jackpot!!! This car is so comfortable and smooth that after 12 years it feels like a brand new car.

Sherwin Love The interior is definetely not cheap lol. The only interior issues with the TL is the dash cracking, besides that the interior is miles beyond the 350z or G35 interiors. Auto transmissions on all honda V6's up until 2007 were prone to fail if not PROPERLY maintained... Replace the pressure switches, ATF, and filters and you wont have any issues. TL is not for cheap owners.

The interior is very cheaply made and the transmission is known for going out the backseat are bolted in so you can't not let the back seats down

For anyone looking for them, do not get an '04, '05, or '06 model! They have transmission issues that Honda didn't truly fix until '07! So you probably won't find one for $4K at a good mileage, $6K to $9K is more accurate.

I have 07 Type S manual and it's the Best sedan I ever owned Since my Acura Legend 6spd, gets up to 32 Mpg highway and as fast as a 80's Corvette and Smooth as a Lexus & Handles like BMW 3 series without RWD & the Leather is as Smooth as silk, Nav, Audio, Bluetooth systems, rear view Camera, it made Bmw 3 series 15 years out of date.

this car model stole millions in sales from the BMW 3 series... the Technology in the TLs those years completely destroys the competitors by miles... and it's made by Honda so you know the quality will always be there. One of the few BEST sport sedans ever build. only flaw... no coup version...

Lusty The Manual TL's are damn near bulletproof. If Honda didn't suck at making Auto's this car would be perfect.

Yes. The 2004 Acura TL transmission was recalled on 04-21-2004 (04V176000 / P31). The 2005-2008 transmissions were good. I have 289,000 miles on my 2005 Acura TL transmission.

Salvaged cars are very tricky. If your car has an extended warranty, contact the warranty provider and see if salvaged cars are covered or what the exact terms are. In general, a salvaged car means you're on your own for any repairs.

I have a question. My uncle has a salvage 03 acura tl that he first got with 27k miles on it. Now at 87k the trans is starting to slip. An acura dealership told us first that the trans had been replaced and then they changed it to that our car wasnt covered under the extended warrenty. Is there any way to find out for ourselfs if our car is defective? A link or something? Please help!

I've owned a 6MT 05 for a little over a year now. Having owned a few other cars and driven many... I can say the TL may not be exceptional at any one attribute...

If there was an official recall, dealers are required to fix it at no cost to you - no matter where you buy it. So you should ask your local Acura dealer to check the car out and look at its service history to see if the recall repair was done. If not, they should be able to do it for you. Since the manufacturer is paying for the recall repair, there's no reason for a dealer to hide anything. They want to get paid for doing recall repairs.

Question....im looking to buy an 04 acura tl. Im looking for one that has 80-140k miles on it. How do i know that the transmission recall problem has been addressed. Will the dealership tell me, or should i ask? Should i instead look for an 05 model? I love this look, and even though i have money for a more new model, im more look into saving as much money as possible. So i dnt wanna risk buying a car with a trans problem
