If you’ve been subscribed to this channel for some time you’ll know there’s one thing I can’t resist… Making modifications to my Porsche!

My most recent mod? Fitting an air filter to see if I could squeeze any more power out of it! I’ve taken it down to the dyno to see if it’s made a difference, but will it? Watch my latest vlog to find out!

Mighty car mods did these tests years ago, so has engineering explained. A 3% power increase on those first runs was a rounding error and would never be felt on the road. The only benefits to aftermarket filters are, they are reusable, thus saving money eventual on services and more filtration, which can cause a lower power figure. All the Honda rice boys out there that claim they feel a difference when they put on pod filters are crying. Also, careful of over oiling the filter lest ye grenade an engine.

I don't know anyone who genuinely believes there's real power gains by changing the standard filter over to a 'performance' one. A pod filter does F all as well, however the sound is often a lot better IMO.

If he had used a K&N filter and OILED it, like you are supposed to, he would have gained a few HP. but the biggest advantage is in throtle response.

Not exactly like for like, after all you said you had had the BMC Filter in there for ages and they do get dirty and clogged after 15000 miles when they should be cleaned. That standard Filter looked new!. It just invalidates the test really....

Wait. You cleaned the injectors and played with the exhaust..... so basically nothing to do with an air filter then!?,?
Then lost power with the filter 😂😂😂

07:42 he has the tyres on that BMW fitted the wrong way ! They are great for driving in reverse, but not for going forwards.
I agree with the air filters, waste of time. The ones designed for the car are best as they have a much bigger surface area, actually filter and pass way more air than the car needs at full RPM even if 75% blocked up. These so called performance ones are 13 times smaller in surface areas so need huge holes and then block really fast and degrade performance so people have to clean them regularly. As for the rubbish about "cold air" intakes, every car has one, millions spent on research to find where to position it for maximum benefit. Do not just rip it off and fit a silly pipe that heats up and a restrictive filter that makes a noise and sucks hot air in. Boy Racers are victims each year of clever sales people ! They believe anything, buy everything and promote the lie in order to not look as stupid as they are or admit they were conned.

Its worth noting that all 'performance' filters arent created equal. Example, and Ebay 'peformance' filter wont flow nearly as well as, say, a K & N
