This week Fred checks out the Sportsmobile 4x4 Ford Van. The Sportsmobile is great if back country exploring and camping are your favorite pastime. It is designed for off road use, and has everything and the kitchen sink. But how does a monster Pace Arrow motorhome compare for off roading? Fred finds out when they RV in the dirt.

The banjo music compliments the 1986 RV like nobodies business! I was waiting for music from Deliverance next.

Buy a Rubicon Wrangler for about $50k new and an 18 foot trailer with full set up for $16k, another $3k if you want to beef up the trailer to almost get you anywhere you want and at the end of day you are not stuck with $100000 junk in your drive way that you use 3 times a year. Oh yea teachers and firefighters buy this thing!!

      I would like to see:

Sprinter 144" 4x4 vs. Sportsmobile (Ford) 4x4 on something off the beaten path. Forest service back road, etc. Not too crazy, but some slightly challenging roads.

Then heading on a road trip, comparing comfort, off road capability, stealth camping capability, etc.

Sweet rig. I'm a square body chevy guy but I'd rock that all day long! The only concern I would have it the rear overhang. it's worse than my 4x4 Suburban! Love to see it with 37's and the rear axle moved back a couple 2 or 3 inches. I'd love to have one!
