Compact SUVs and crossovers are currently the hottest cars on the market, everybody wants them, though unfortunately not everyone can afford them. But who said that any automobile larger than a tiny hatchback must be expensive? Today we have prepared a list of the cheapest crossovers on sale in 2018, that should be within the reach of the majority of consumers.

And while, we do agree that the adjectives cheap or affordable are rather subjective, in this video you will only find cars that cost as low as $16,000 and barely go over the $20,000 mark, indeed affordable, right? We hope you will be able to find the right car for your growing family on this list and avoid piling up an enormous debt!

From what I understand by researching it, while it isn't a wide spread problem, I am not the only person to have it. It is the most common complaint for the vehicle.

The renegade has been into the shop multiple times for engine stalling/shutting off while driving and once for transmission jerking and clunking. It is a piece of junk and I would never buy another one. I am actually trading it off next month.

you're wellcome ..I've subscribed - it was the top model of Dacia Duster at that time - as you know(i suppose) it is not luxury .... but it's a 4x4 with very good attack and aproach angles(as i know: by far the best ground clearance angles in crossover class)....it's has almost the same technical features as a 1,5 diesel nissan Quasquai but cheaper interior and better offroad angles....the 1,5 dci engine is a mature already tested and reliable prouved engine(used by other producers too ...not just Nissan-Renault): ....google search for Duster technical datas: https://www.renault.com.sa/vehicles/new-vehicles/duster/dimensions.html

Good review, thanks. Hey - notice the Jeep Compass at 1:10...one wheel is able to spin a fair amount before the system cuts in to make it brake using the ABS or whatever, and force the other wheels with grip to drive. Yes, I know this is how it works with the 3 differential mechanical AWD systems, but if this vehicle was electrically driven to all wheels, an electric motor apiece, this quaint methodology would end tomorrow in any car. The decision to shut power would be instant, the torque measurement from the other wheels indicating where power would do some good. Electronic differentials - is anything else worthwhile in the 21st century?! I would go as far as to say that any 2 wheel drive car with such a system, would be a match for this old-style AWD technique. IMHO.

Hello _ I can't really remember as my old Phase 1 was traded in against he new one. When the new Dacia arrived at the dealership it came with some extra features which were not quoted for in the sale so I got them free. They were the new style radio, the chrome bumper protector and the chrome exhaust end. It had the usual Bluetooth, AC, USB sockets etc.

I have to say with hand on heart that the Dacia Duster is one great car with lots of wellie (power), comfort and a pleasure to drive. The new model I have is the Signature in Cosmos Metallic Blue.

Anyone on a tight budget should go with a 2 or 3 year old pre-owned. Take excellent care of it (basically do everything the owner's manual says to do, when they say to do it) and drive it for 15 or 20 years, or until similarly all electrics become available -- whichever comes first.

Agreed, but sadly very few people take care of their cars these days. The majority of pre-owned offerings on the market have over 60,000 miles on their meter and it is hard to say that they are in a particularly good shape. But yeah, if you are in luck to get a decent 3 year old pre-owned of a higher class, it is definitely a viable option.

Used model of a higher trim or premium crossover is the way to go. Since cars and trucks lose at least 20% by driving them off the lot also car loans have become the next bubble to burst like the housing bubble. It's just best to find a used one from the dealership. Sadly! Also I've noticed that these car companies are nickel and dime the consumers on the options packages seem they're so skimpy on mix level trims making about 4 levels in some cases.Ugh, next I buy will be used maybe year older.

Getting a depreciated Mercedes, Cadillac or a BMW is a great option, provided you know that the vehicle was regularly serviced. Meanwhile, premium brands also come with premium servicing prices, so when choosing any car all of the options have to be analyzed. You can't win them all.
