I just did a test drive with CX5.. that car is so quiet, with super luxurious appeal inside and enough room for my 187cm both front and back.
I think I'll be visiting the showroom next week with some good news for both of us :)

Qashqai is a smaller "crossover". The XTrail is the correct comparison. The Tiguan and CRV are the larger cars followed closely by XTrail. CRV and now old model Kuga here are just a touch smaller but still offer more than the Qashqai.

I just drove a few of these and I'm definitely buying the VW Tiguan... for me it's in an entirely different league.

So the best car is the VW but the CX5 wins? Is $1500 "significantly" more expensive when you're paying in the high 40's?!

As nice as the Mazda is, it and the Nissan have barely adequate engines. I'm still a bit dirty on VW. So, I'd take the Ford Escape just for that cracking turbo engine.

Noise and handling? Shouldn’t the average user be more concerned with looks, features and running costs?

X-Trail & CR-V has best value for money for equipment. Find it hard to justify the extra for others even if fit & finish is nicer

DO NOT buy a Mazda, have a 2.2 diesel that has had two major engine failures due to the DPF failure and vacuum pump failure. if you could trust the engines in them why do they only offer a 3 year warranty?

There's something about that CX5. It looks like it can handle the day to day but still feel at home at a gala event. The VW has presence but sadly its price tag most likely means it would always be absent from my garage.

Somehow the X Trail almost reminds me of the previous generation Murano which to date I maintain is the most complete family car I've ever owned. As for the fireball, well changing a name won't make me forget the condescending attitude ford had while people were in danger.
