10:30 regarding the spot AE and focus at different points.
The only way to do this is to use AE lock with the backbutton for spot AE first, and then focus using the shutter button. obviously using the same spot, but turning the camera to what you want to focus on after locking AE where you want to control exposure..

Thanks for figuring out how to move the ' playback ' to the right side. Were there any unique steps to do this ? My left hand was injured at birth, so for me I would constantly need to reach over with my right hand to activate playback. Where you able to make the original playback button into some other feature ? Have you thought of creating a ' separate ' button into being your focus ? Besides other advantages this would solve the overly sensitive O. E. shutter. I will do this once I get my G9. I'm now using the Pani Fz2500 bridge camera - 1 in. sensor, 24 ~ 480 zoom which, do to it's versatility, I will keep. Understanding my way around the Fz I hope will help in making a quicker learning curve onto the G9. Your video's are well done & thanks again.

@Camerahoarders You were able to go into the menu under ' Fn Button Set ' & change the Playback to a right of the screen button ? I'm considering making the upper button - next to the lens - as my focus. Index finger = shutter, 2nd finger = focus. Thanks for the quick response. Any suggestion for a 1st lens acquisition ?

Sadly original play button is always a play button. YOu can decuple focus from shutter and use AF/AE lock for focus.

Thank you Ivan for your thoughtful and logical review. I shoot mainly with my Leica Q for everyday photography so your closing remarks resonates with me. At this point I am looking for an interchangeable lens camera in addition to my Leica and I'm considering the Panasonic G9 and the Fuji XH-1 for light video work but mainly shooting wildlife, sports and auto racing. I would appreciate your thoughts. Fuji X cameras are familiar to me as I have owned XT-1, XT-2 and X70.

@11:38 How come you have two pages of menu for video format? On my G9 with the latest firmware there are only five items in single page. Did they remove some options with a newer firmware..?

I would like to have it, but if I bought everything that I like I would go bankrupt in a heartbeat. :)) If you are thinking of getting one, now is the time to buy it, it can be found as low as €1100, almost half of the initial price when I reviewed it.

I have used MFT cameras for 10 years. Just got a G9, and am enjoying learning the new features. Thanks for the detailed user review. You questioned the value of video shutter speeds below 1/framerate. This allows video recording of static scenes in very low light, such as a church interior, without needing high ISO.

Hi, I really enjoy your channel. Since you test a lot of equipment maybe you can help me with my decision. I´m currently thinking about changing system from Panasonic but I´m not sure. Currently I use the GX8 with 15mm Leica and 35-100 F2.8 and shoot almost everything from landscapes, portait, Family, street etc. and also want to try some wildlife. I´d like to expand to at the wide angle and the telephoto-side. So far I´m not really happy with the high ISO Performance when shooting Family/Event indoor and also long exposures at night/astro looks not too great. But everything else works fine for me and I´m happy with camera handling. Especially weight and size of camera and lenses is really great. Do you think G9 will give me better results or should I consider switching to Fuji or even Sony? I think the your point of enjoying the use will be very important to me.

Mathias Rapphahn In reply to Mathias Rapphahn

Hi Ivan, just got the Fuji today and first Impression is that handling is great but high ISO IQ is not too much different. The noise difference in uncorrected raw is surprisingly low, but the Fuji seems to keep some more detail. But of course that´s not all, I´ll test all different Setups. But signs are towards FF...

Mathias Rapphahn In reply to Mathias Rapphahn

If I choose Fuji it would be my only system, likely with 16mmf1.4, 35f2, 50f2 and 55-200f3.5-4.8(maybe later 100-400 if I do more wildlife but that is really big heavy lens). Fuji seems to also take care a lot about their customers. I keep you updated after testing.
I’m a little concerned on the big Nikon body’s and the different shooting with DSLR since I’m used to mirrorless. But one step after the other ;-)
