I'm not 100% positive but I believe some of the dust is asbestos from the pads X 4 wheels of work. I thought about it and skipped the job.

How do you remove the rust dust that comes of a bad caliper from machined black rims?

that looks good where it is painted at the latest tomorrow it will start to rust, the caliper must be completely out. Sandblasting and then either powder coat or paint, otherwise you can save all the work too.

I think it stills looks like shit. I'd just buy a new caliper and paint it.

By the time you've messed about, it would be quicker and easier to take the Caliper off the car and do them in the garage/shed.

Btw, painting the calipers is for cars with nice rims, where you can see the calipers with the wheels on, and on nice cars!
