I can't believe it. The crossing gates came down only ten seconds before the train got there! What's up with that????

I know going all the way to the route's terminus in Silverton isn't the winter itinerary, but I wonder if or another group/organization has enticed the D&S management to do a winter run all the way. I was hoping to see that at about the 6:00 mark on this gem; alas, no Silverton. . . . I'll offer that one of the spectacular aspects of this run, this video, is all the rolling stock. Car after car after car. Just wonderful. What behooved someone on this board here to complain there were "too many cars" I can't imagine.
I've done this close-to-peerless ride in early fall; now seeing this makes me want to go back for a run in the snow.
Congratulations and Thank You both, Durango & Silverton and

That would be great, but they'd have to spend considerable time and money to open the line for one run. They don't run past Cascade in the winter because of avalanche danger (there are numerous slides that run every year). With the above average snowfall this year, there have been massive slides that have covered the tracks and even the river. See this article from a couple of days ago:

I like ancient trains, the smoke is a lot, in Indonesia there is nothing like that.

In the railway station, trains are so polluted with air that they just carry coal, mimic steam locomotives on a common locomotive, and boil water to emit normal steam.
