I reacted to this video after the 'backlash'. Watch it here, unless you're easily offended - automobilrevue.net/v/Q1YxcEhlTmxFSTg

Ride London has earned £53 million for charity over the last five years and as a result some roads have to be closed. They're advertised as closed for month leading up to the event and on the days leading to the event every 200 meters. The time for our local area; 7am - 7pm. It's closed after the main race because they open the roads to amateur cyclists and families who can ride the route or part of the route (for charity) without worry of cars. These drivers decided that 6:20pm was about all they could take despite the fact that cyclists COULD have still been on the road.

What are your thoughts on the video? I don't know, maybe I'm in the wrong... Also, the steward was a young guy clearly following his bosses orders and he received some vile abuse just for doing his job.

Making the point that the road drivers pay to use is closed to allow use only by people who dont pay to use them is not silly its basic common sense but in this case the drivers seem to be taking it upon themselves to decide when its safe to re open a road after a closure so 🤷‍♂️ the entitled meet the entitled. In london no less, who woulda thought it 😂

So this road is closed for 12hours every day from 07.00 till 19.00. Why is it closed? Roadworks? So cycles can use it? Confused.

It's more difficult managing a car as there are concerns of parking and even if it is shut then letting a few cars pass shouldn't be a problem and they should get large barge boulders for diversion if they're so keen to prevent drivers using this strech

Cyclists.... pain in the f=+*^%g ass , stick to off roading in the country that’s what I always used to do as the roads are bad enough trying to get home ... a lot of them think they own the roads , I don’t blame the locals in this video for their actions totally understand 👍

I got caught up in Ride London in 2015 and it was utter chaos, I travelled from Wales to pick up someone in central London and had no idea it was on. Road closures seemed poorly thought out (if there was any thought at all), buses were stuck and even the black cab drivers I asked couldn't find their way through the chaos. It took me 7hrs to get from Hammersmith to Mayfair! If 2018 was similar then I can sympathise with why those drivers reacted the way they did.

At the end of the day we live in a highly populated country and roads can't be closed for cylists or runners very often without causing major disruption. There are countryside areas where things might be easier for this type of thing. There has to be a compromise.

Big fines for interfering with traffic signs, cones and barriers, a lot of road workers are killed/ seriously injured each year due to inconsiderate drivers, I hope this twat was prosecuted.

The road is closed due to tbr event. So therefore they would have been told beforehand. So that argument that they didn't know doesn't work. The road is closed and that's it. They should have planned an alternative route before so that they don't get affected by tbr road being closed. It's not that hard. People it's so easy to understand. Steward was doing his job as far as I'm concerned.

I like how ppl argue about tax for cyclist, wake up ppl there are motor vehicles about that have zero tax too! and even if you did tax cyclists, commuters will go back to a car...think of the traffic mayhem!

The way you over react is pathetic, first you say the third car "almost" hit him. BULLSHIT You see people crossing the road every day closer than that. In fact some pavements put you closer to the road that he was to the car. Then you said the sheer "speed" they drove past. WTF they were doing 25mph max. You seriously are a problem and 1 reason people are like they are today, dumb, scared and look at everything as dangerous. Example "beware hot water" on hot taps. Or "beware of steps" and "hold rail at all time" signs posted everywhere.

Roads should be closed more often to motorists aside from 999 emergency vehicles. This will help force the lazy lot to get off their fat backsides and use their legs to get around and loose weight so NHS is not gridlocked by fatties cos they have lost use of their legs or find it too painful to walk. Restricting smoking has worked very well and probably have saved many from passive smoking and cut down on lung cancer. So use your legs more often then driving everywhere and stop crowding our NHS and cut down on crashing and killing innocent people.
