I just picked up our 2019 Suzuki Jimny from our dealer in Corfu and drove it back to Munich. Here are my impressions from its first 1000 kilometers.

      First of all,
think you for your review, secondly I think you missed a arm rest in the center console.

You are right! An armrest would be a nice touch and a perfect place to store a wallet. Cheers!

Thankyou for your informative video. I will be buying a Jimny later this year. It is very pleasing that they have gone back to a proper transfer case lever. Question, when in two wheel drive do the front wheels still turn the front axel? If not, how is it engaged apart from using the transfer case?

I don't understand your question. Are you interested in where the movement stops: at the wheels or somewhere in the transmission? I don't know and I suspect we will have to ask Suzuki.

Thanks for the review. I am wondering about the ease of shifting from 2x4 to 4x4, and can it be done on the move?

I heard in one review that you can change from 2x4 to 4x4 up to 100 km/h. I tried this in Corfu and it worked without any issues (I also shifted back to 2x4).

The headlight washers activate every time you use your standard windscreen wipers while the headlights are ON.

Never had a problem with any of the car washes I've visited in my 5000km.. pretty sure that's just a dodgy car wash hahaha

You've got a 4x4, now. Go through Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia,..

@simianproductions No need for a 4x4 for an eating adventure on a ferry.

And miss all of that great food on the ferries between Ancona and Igoumenitsa?

From the factory there are only bolts securing the tire to the door.

A lot of people in australia have changed to 215 75 R15. Gives more stability and better handling. BFG seems popular, though i will go for a less aggressive tyre like dueler AT

They look thinner and higher than previous generation but i believe the new jimny sits a bit higher which make the stock tyres look odd or large...the duelers work well on road

Did you say passing trucks at 130km/h? That seems pretty crazy fast for this car. If it can pass trucks safely at 110km/h I'll be happy.

Its rated for 150kph or 90 mph..the previous generation 1.3 could muster 140 kph or 86 mph... its the rpm's which are a pain...anything above 120kph in the 1.3 is at 4k rpm which is loud in a jimny..even with the new 1.5 rpm is now 3.5k rpm...still high..hope the new model of the new model in time has a 6th with higher ratio for on road and motorway driving...every other negativity of the jimny i can live with....regarding stability for those who might be interested i fitted a thule 690t moab basket to my 2007 vvt 1.3 and its as stable as boeing 747 in cross winds.. the extra 2ft on top really gives it the stability it lacks and i dont loose much mpg/km... the 1.3 jimny in test condition gave 560 km to 40 litre tank though with or without roof basket i could just about manage 500km and that is at all kinds of on road and motorway driving so its consistant which is a plus for me..i like the new jimny but i suspect the vrt vehical registration tax in my country will price it out of the market here giving the top of the range jimny 1.5 a price tag of around 20k euro which to me is a lot for a jimny...

I was looking at the speedometer. I live in Germany, 130 km/h isn't that fast.

@simianproductions Is that GPS speed or from the speedo? Seems crazy fast to perform an overtake in this car.

Yes, 130 km/h and perhaps sometimes faster. The things we do for our viewers!
