Apparently there was a big gap between two of the Range Rovers, so here's what's filled it.

The Velar is the most stylish thing Land Rover has done for...ever, right?

Great to see a car review that doesn't focus on where you can put your 1.5 litre bottle of water and large bag of crisps. I like the quips and jokes too.

We all know the large packet of crisps test is highly important

“It’s sleek” ... “ well the door handles are anyway” .... ! Yep , what a brilliant summary. Hilarious.

A cracking car, I’m tempted to buy one.

Nice review John, I think it’s just a slightly stretched Evoque, but with the same limited rear space, and a lot more money. But a nice looking SUV nonetheless.

Velar has style 100% style over all the others. I found the V4 to be a bit lacking in performance, the V6 is a must at $10K more.

But these are cars for people who want a new one every three years, are happy to throw away tons of dosh and don't care that it will fall apart as soon as the warranty is up.

It's rubbish. If you have driven both a Porsche Macan and Velar you will know how bad the Ford transit like jerky Velar is completed. Y shit plastic and low end screens that need a wipe clean after using every time- yet the Macan is awesome. I always had porsche sports cars then went with a new Porsche Macan S Diesel Turbo. Outstanding. I just can't say enough good things about it. Put it this way I told the dealer to put me on waiting list for all new Macan in 2020. Not a facelift but all new ground up Macan in 2020. I'm bored with 911, Cayman GTS and boxster now esp the quiet new ones. The Macan is exceptional.

Take away for me... Poor Brits need a diesel. Here in the USA, we can enjoy a 380 hp gasoline (aka petrol) engine.

Scott Nyob Thanks for the observation, but I’m happy to stick with our diesels and peaceful (zero gun ) culture thanks Scott!

L-R always feels the 'junior' exec (except in the top line Rangie) and always lacking when compared to German rivals

I wouldn't buy one looking at all the nobs they've associated with it. £70k would buy a really good BMW 7 series. Nuff said.

Great introduction - it sums up the car maker's aim precisely, unfortunately. I think I will be taking a look at its sister car, the Jaguar F-pace. It is cheaper and has better on-road performance.

Great review as always. However a union jack is only found on a ship. The flag pattern you mention is on the seats and speaker covers is that of the the union flag. That always bugs me...

Mark Nichol has literally transformed HJ channel to, not just one of the best review channels, but the best.
His reviews are funny, interesting and I hope he gets the credit he deserves.

Spent about 2 minutes inside one of these at a car show and it's a piece of shit.
The door handle (inside) made the most horrible noise as if it was about to break when I closed the door.
And the 2 armrest things in the middle both moved 5 cm forwards, backwards, left and right. And I'm not even kidding.
It's built by idiots and it's built to fall apart.

According to somewhat discrete editing I can only conclude that Range Rover Velar 2018 is, actually, good enough, despite some eyebrow raising engineering. And, yeah, that cockpit... !!! Great job, guys !
