A frontal small overlap crash test was conducted on a 2013 Honda Civic 2-door at 64.3 km/h and a 25 percent
overlap on the driver side. A Hybrid III 50th percentile male dummy was positioned in the driver seat with the
lap/shoulder belt fastened.

During the crash, the frontal airbag briefly contacted the dummy’s face during deployment; then, the head loaded and
remained engaged with the fully inflated frontal airbag until rebound. The head also contacted the roof-mounted side
curtain airbag, which had deployed during the crash. The dummy’s maximum forward excursion was 359 mm;
however, head interaction with the frontal airbag was stable and the steering wheel vertical and lateral movement
was not greater than 10 cm.

The driver space was maintained well, with maximum intrusion of the lower interior of 9 cm, and the upper hinge pillar and
instrument panel intruded 4 cm.

The left lower tibia L-M moment was -222 Nm, significantly contributing to the left lower tibia index of 1.14. The right
lower tibia L-M moment was -171 Nm, significantly contributing to the right lower tibia index of 0.95. The right resultant
foot acceleration was 156 g.
