Guide to replace a starter motor on a 2008 Acura RDX. If your car is not starting and the engine is not turning over, first run a battery test first, and listen for any odd noises when turning the key.

This is a step by step guide to replacing a starter motor, which when fails causes the car to not start or turn over. The starter motor in an Acura RDX 2008 is located under the turbo intake, in front of the engine, between the alternator and the battery.

On my 2007 Acura RDX I do have a nut instead of bolt on top of the bar. I couldn't unscrew the nut, it is like welded. Any suggestions?

Thank you for making this video, now I'm YouTube Certified! Saved me $400! Acura tried to sale me part and labor for $600 but I went and bought the part at Auto Zone and did it myself for $200.

Great tutorial, and information. The connections were the most time consuming due to space restrictions. Thanks for the guide!

I have a 07 rdx...it won't crank at all I get power and all just won't turn over...dealer I got it from put a kill switch directly to my starter. Do you think they might of fried it? There is a loose wire in there....like they snipped it i have no clue were it might go to...should I replace the starter? They took off the kill switch and still nothing..thanks in advance...

Rigo Maldonado did you try running a computer diagnostic first? I would try that and see what codes come up before replacing the starter.

Great video. Very patient and thorough explanation. This was a pretty straight forward repair, thanks to your video. Took me about 2 hours on my 2007 RDX. I bought a Denso starter on Rock Auto (I always try to install good quality parts to avoid repeat repairs.). Both starter bolts have long thread engagements, and you can only turn each bolt a few degrees at a time due to tight quarters, so I agree the starter bolts are the worst part. Thanks again for taking the time to video and explain.

You’re welcome, glad you were able to do it yourself easily. Rockauto is great.
