Just so you know, you're missing the skid plate that covers the front diff, and also the reason people prefer the early third gen bumper( the small lip) is because it has a better approach angle offroad. so when you go up to a steep ledge you're more likely to have the tires hit the obstacle and drive up, rather than just hitting the bumper into it. I built all tube bumpers for mine so i don't have to worry but yeah m8, nice vid

Awesome 4Runner! I keep my 80 series bare bones as well. Everyone is always telling me what I “need” to do to it. Less complicated = less that can break. Great video

Thanks for the tour. This is my style. I'm sick of the debt riddled grocery getters. I daily an fj cruiser with only purposeful mods paid out of pocket. No credit cards here. Although depending on the trail I'd say gas cans are a plus. I'm sure there is more mods to come and I like the minimal aspect. In a way it adds more character. You ever find and old truck or jeep that's been sitting that was owned by some old man that has passed and took a look at the early type of mods? Nothing is quiet pretty but it's all part of function. Keep it up fine sir and tell the kido's to keep it clean hahaha. No sticky stuff!

How many miles do you have on your truck? Have you needed to replace the head gasket? Any issues with the fuel injectors? I have a 96 T4R SR5 5 speed manual trans. with 244K that I've had for 13 years. Nice video.

I believe the models that don’t have the fat lip bumper are the 96’-98’ models 99’-02’ have it. I personally prefer the 96’-98’ model, I grew up around a 97’ limited so it makes sense that I would like those better

Cannot agree enough. The cool “Instagram” or “YouTube” builds and the carefully catered image of technicality in the overland community only serves to discourage people from trying it out.

Now I whole-heartedly support these builds and that level of technicality because I enjoy seeing them being used, but one absolutely does not need $10,000 gear on a a rig to enjoy the lifestyle!

An added benefit I am trying to focus on with my Land Cruiser is the ability to stealth camp in relatively urban area. This opens up opportunities to travel extremely cheaply in remote all the way to urban environments. Get out and explore!
