Located 70-miles east of Phoenix is the town of Superior, and what one day will be the largest most productive copper mine in the United States. The only problem is the rich ore deposit is buried 7,000 feet underground. The owners of the mine haven't even started mining yet because they have to get to it first.

Randy Seppala says the mine will be there for a long time and it's all he'll do. He was my boss for a few years when we both were young men at a large copper mine.

Barely over a mile deep, and the earths magma core heats up the rocks to those temps, doesn't seem plausible considering the Grand Canyon and other places even deeper don't have this thermal transfer going on.

ITs the relative distance from the earths surface that effects the heat conduction and transfer. The closer to the surface the faster heat is lost to the colder surroundings

It is amazing what men and technology can do down earth in the sea or in space. Robotic work needed here. But I believe Nanotechnology will be able to provide all minerals needed for the super industrial world structures needed in the future.
