Canning Stock route is looming and I am way from finished with this build, the most ambitious of my career.

Getting stuck in to the interior fittings and equipment. I've spent three months working at QuickPitch Campers in Wangara, Western Australia developing and building the interior.

This project is part of a Toyota Land Cruiser Troopy V8 build happening in Western Australia by Andrew St Pierre White. The vehicle's first major expedition is scheduled for the Canning Stock Route beginning early July 2017.

Thanks to QuickPitch campers and Alu-Cab. (

My camp setup. I watch people set up their camps, using tray-backs. And even though lots of stuff is easy to get to, the speed at which they set up camp is not fast. Some, to make it faster, use swags to sleep in. I don't like swags. I also do not like trad style roof top tents. They come with a huge hassle factor. My system is ultra fast and ultra easy. By that I mean pitch tent with bedding, create shade, put out two chairs and get two ice cold beers in the hand - two people complete that task in UNDER one minute! I can do it by myself in under 90 seconds. One lives outside, but should the weather get bad, one can get inside and have proper shelter. That's my kind of camping.

No. Not al all. Its the places we go and the fact that we do not want stuff! We want to leave it behind. Also, we seek remote location where there are few people. That means narrow tracks and sometimes challenging off road terrain. Also, many nature parks and game reserves do not permit trucks (anything above and including the size of a Unimog) We also, and this is vital, don't want too much stuff. Keeping life comfortable but simple is a key.

why is it you guys do everything so small? small trucks low power electricity, low battery capacity, and no kitchen, no water tanks

i mean im just curious because when i set out on month long camping trip im 13 tons fully loaded and have a 3000 mile range on road and 2000 off

      is it mostly government regulations?

I just got a new swag and it took me over 5 minutes to roll up and put into the swag bag (an idea I never thought should exist). Packing up is the worst part of any camping trip. I just want something I can pull up - jump in bed. Sleep. Wake up - get going again.

Not on this scale you can't, the Troop Carrier is huge in both internal volume and payload (mass).

Hello, Very nice series.  I enjoyed watching almost all of the season.  May I ask how much was the total cost?   It's a lovely truck! I know I won't be able to get one in US...but I can dream about it.

Hi Andrew...HUGE fan of you vids, especially your story times. I was squirming when they where cutting your roof. However they also removed the cross bracing that where in the way. I would imagine that the troopy whould have lost alot of rigidity. Did you find that so???

      Hi Andrew,

Just wondering why you decided to put a steel winch bumper on the front. Has a steel front bumper proven to be protective of the front end? Has a winch on the front proven to be indispensable? Are both worth the weight? Have you ever wished you had a winch on the back?

I am considering just installing a front receive on my SUV so I can leave the winch in the garage when I am not going off-road, attaching it to the front when going on the trail, and moving it to the rear when needed.

      Thank you!

Hi andrew i love your new troopy build i love the heart and soul that you pour into your trucks... but its missing 1 thing😎 PORTAL AXLES from marks 4x4 adapters you get six inches of clearance under the diff and can legally run 35s on the road they also get rid of the annoying skinny track diff in the back and widen the whole track width on both front and back of the vehicle check it out on youtube under vdj79 land cruiser portal axles it makes a already awesome vehicle into a really awesome truck check it out
keep up the good work and cant wait to see your troopy with portals 😎😆
