OK, most people know I love my Jeeps and while that was all kicked off with the old WW2 models plenty of experience of the newer JK's and the like has kept that excitement right up there.

However this is something totally different. The new Grand Cherokee is one of the fastest and most comfortable ON ROAD vehicles I've ever driven with the V6 diesel pumping more ponies that the old GTHO Falcons that lapped Bathurst in my day. It's an incredible vehicle capable of towing big caravans yet here, in the new Trailhawk from, Jeep has also built an incredible off-road weapon. How good? Well, have a look and see but the fact is that we did some tracks here that usually take double locked diffs and air out of the tyres to complete. Can technology be that good? It sure looks like it. I want to thank my friends at Westside Jeep who supplied the new Trailhawk with instructions to 'find out what it'll do', and maybe apologise for taking it so far! Love them or hate them the fact is that the Grand Cherokee with the track ready Trailhawk package is the most competent on road/off road vehicle on the market. And a final word for those of us (that's me too) who aren't too hot on technology - there's nothing on the market without it these days, you might as well get the best and get the lot. Don't forget to subscribe to the channel while I'm still allowed to borrow other people's cars and have a look at some of the great stuff we've got at the shop at www.roothy.com.au

ya, Range Rovers are the ones constantly in the garage. Jeep has by far the best 4X4 traction control and now adays are solid and reliable. MY brand new loaded Trailhawk with the 5.7 Hemi absolutely rules. I was going to buy a Range Rover, but they are always in the garage. The Trackhawk smokes the Turbo Cayane and costs 80k less. The new GC's are awesome stuff and top of class. And no one has ever come close to Jeeps' 4X4 traction control. Naturally, cars that you rock hop with are going to need more maintenance than a Camry just driven on the road. Even the older Jeeps were top notch. The old ones used during the wars. top notch all around. You can drive a Camry if you want absolute reliability, but they look cheesy, are gutless, drive cheesy and are the most purchased car on the planet. Lame, lame. Jeeps have class and look tough

      Congratulations for the video.
It is the first video of about 100 I saw today that showed me that the new Jeep Grand Cherokee is worth offroad.
In addition to traveling comfort, I am happy to know that if I were to use it in off-road in the future, it could look good.
      Thanks Roberto

These things actually do amazing off roading. Has no issues going thru a river bed with huge rocks. Will go up anything. Did it last week and I was very impressed

I’ve had 5 Grand Cherokees , lastly switched from the Highlander to the Trailhawk, added BFGoodrich All Terrain Tires , Magnaflo Exhaust System , she’s a Beauty! Handled over 2 foot of snow in the Sierra’s and good river rock crawling and desert driving. Always loved the Jeep’s, the Trailhawk lives up to it’s name and then some for a stock vehicle!

Big jeep fan but reliability does not cut it with these new ones .... fiat Chrysler just misses the mark

It's one thing to slag the Grand Cherokee, but the Jeep brand? First off, the Cherokee was deigned to be a compromise. Decent road manners while being a very capable off-roader. An adventure vehicle that's mostly driven around the city by people that never take it off-road. It's not a rock crawler. For that you will need a Wrangler. And the Wrangler my friends, shits on everything......unstoppable. You can talk crap about Jeep being unreliable, but there are a hell of a lot of 30 year old examples still on the roads and trails today. Maybe not Toyota reliability, but far better than Land Rover.

It’s equipped with limited slip front and rear end axles instead of open end which gives you the best of both worlds. Making it street worthy and off road worthy by being able to lock the differential automatically when needed

The front "limited slip" is just fancy traction control (that works really well). The rear axle is true electronic limited slip that will eventually lock.

Just a..slight political observation from my small phone screen. Passenger seat view capition gives image of Fidel Castro on the run in a jeep😁. " ok I gotta stay ahead of the capitalist pigs....aside from using a capitalist vehicle which totally contradicts my economic philosophy....so far so good😁. Better than what we had!

Unfortunately most the people leaving comments here have never owned or driven a Grand Cherokee, if they had they would not embarrass themselves with uninformed crap.

Had one of these on a 4x4 club day trip and yep they are more capable than you would think by just looking at them. Pity Jeep has such a bad reputation for cheep quality build and poor reliability because going back to the 80's and older and they where a good thing CJ 7 and 8's come to mind.

My Grand Cherokee WJ will soon turn 20 yrs and I haven't had much problems apart from new break line and a lil rust (cause by 6 months winters and salty roads here in Norway). I never gonna get rid of it. I need a capable, roomy 4wd -- esp every day during the cold and icy season, and since soon 50% of new vehicles here are electric, no new vehicle can give me that. The only alternative is a Tesla X, but damn, then you need to settle for 6 months back log on parts and service (which you cannot do yourself anyways).
