could you test if sand paper surface painted in black matte has any effect on laser beam to reflect back to laser gun-made panel and put it in front of car and test it

the radar detector is very useful with the speed cameras if are directed to the front of car.
I am using V1 in Saudi Arabia which have saved me from many of tickets.

Yeah that's one of the rare exceptions based on the way the speed cameras operate in your country. That's not something that we could take advantage of here. Heck I run the V1 myself and get several laser falses per hour so even with the extreme sensitivity, I ignore most all of the alerts. Things vary all over the world... :)

So if I was trying to avoid speed traps, a radar detector won’t really help in that situation?

Vortex Radar In reply to David Leone

If the officer is using radar, you can sometimes get alerts miles and miles in advance. For laser, you're right, your radar detector won't be helpful.

Vortex Radar damn. Looks like quite the investment. So as far as the radar detector, it’s mainly going to let me know when I’m about to pass by a cop? Sounds helpful but not as helpful as I thought it would be. Thanks for the video. I’m glad I learned that I’m screwed if I’m about to enter a speed trap.

If the officer was using radar, your radar detector would be great. If they were using laser, not so much, which is where your laser jammer would come into play.

Car engineers hit two birds with one stone. Put radar and laser systems in cars to help avoid collisions, and alert to radar and laser detectors to slow speeders down a little.

A lot of state troopers I know have Waze open on their phones and when they see they've been reported, they'll move to a more secluded spot. Remember they don't have to be visible to get your speed; they can run laser on bridges, overpasses, onramps and offramps, etc

ALL a lidar alarm on your detector does is tell you when to pull over and get your wallet out....sometimes...I hang on the interstate about 8 over...In town, 5....It works for me...My detector keeps me focused...R 3

That's the conventional line : if you"re lased you"re screwed, period.
Nope. That's what I thought went the Redline went batshit crazy just after dawn in Virgina on I95. I got a very nice 3/4 mile warning from scatter from the cop down the road. Damned lucky? OK, I'll still appreciate the extra chance.
Laser jammers? Technically, you are interfering with a police officer, making them illegal anywhere. And that's usually a felony offense?
The southbound Skyline Bridge toll plaza in Tampa also apparently lases all cars, no reason given.

There is one VERY good reason to have laser detection in these devices which you did not mention! I have been lazered whilst I was accelerating. If I didn't have the laser detection, I would have kept accelerating to a speed where, here in Australia I would have LOST MY LICENSE! This feature meant that I got a ticket, but I didn't exceed the very strict and stupid limits imposed here in Australia!
This is why laser detection can be a big deal!!!!

Maybe legal, but more likely to get a ticket for having one, kinda like, you have one so you can speed,, not That's its illegal in your area, but just a reason to give you one

Vortex, hey why you not talking about devices like Speed Cheetah C50 - C550 and similar. which is awesome! and covering the US too! another one is Snooper 4 ZERO Elite BT. and also app RADARBOT. there is also laser jammer Laser Elite Front Sensor.

    • Vortex Radar
Vortex Radar In reply to JohnnyIvan5

Because that's not available or as useful here in the US. I contacted Speed Cheetah and they were going to send me a review sample, but never did. The consensus is that you can just run Waze for free or use the RLC database in your RD and it's one less device to buy, install, and keep updated.

Snooper doesn't sell here in the US. RadarBot I've never heard of anyone using in the US and again Waze is fine. Laser Elite is an outdated jammer here in the US and no one here buys it and runs it anymore.

Some do, but usually not. Generally it's the officer's word in court stating what the laser gun had read.

Just for the sake of argument, can i use the warning from the Laser Jammer and floor it until i get out of its range, or do i risk getting the cops after me!?

DON'T DO THAT, the jammer are meant to give you an extra second or 2 max to slam your breaks and turn the jammer off immediately or you will ALERT the cops

I bought a car with a system already installed. There's nothing to turn the jammer off and the sytem is no longer made. Its only went off like 4 times in 2 years and the cops always looked confused so idk if they even realize.

I keep seeing videos that tell you to turn your jammer off after they tag you. Why does it matter? Why not just not allow him to get a reading at all? Is this for where Jammers are illegal?

    • Vortex Radar
Vortex Radar In reply to ghee buttersnaps

Also for places where they’re legal and if you want them to stay legal... Plus not all cops know the law and may go after you even I they are legal. Best to use your tools responsibly.

Will a laser pointer still work instead of a laser gun for the purposes of triggering a laser alert on a radar detector?

It won’t. You need a laser gun or a laser gun simulator like this: http://bit.ly/1Qe3vKR
