My 2012 F150 was weird with the door latches.. had suicide doors. When you closed the doors you never really felt like they were actually closed.. the sound was just not there. Otherwise kinda miss the truck.

Im a collision technician. Your lower door striker is in to far. You need to loosen it and adjust it out further. Its a dual stage latch and the second lock point isnt catching. Porsche master tech since 2003.

I don't believe I'll place much credence in the words of a person that doesn't know the difference between grease or lubricant and "goop".

If you wouldn't slam the doors shut like that, they would probably last longer. Looks like your trying to break something.

Ford needs to stop making supercabs with suicide rear half doors. Having a B pillar and proper door latches is a great thing.

The panel gaps are terrible - does that pass for "build quality" at Ford?

    • IVAO04ify

This is a perfect example of the old saying, "It's just more shit to break." It's not the Engine, Transmission or Suspension. It's stupid after market shit that's causing a problem. See how the slams the door constantly, who would have thought the 6 cent nut was lose, because I'm willing to bet my 6.7 vs your raptor on that one, then again I built those cheapass trucks so what do I know. A truck is for work not running boards or other bullshit.

I’m having the same issue with my Chevy than I replaced the latch with an older model latch now it’s just fine

Pulling and forcing the door handle when the latch is frozen is causing the cable to pop out of its retainer. Every time this cable is pulled out of the handle the connection becomes weaker. I would advise, after the water freezing in the latch is addressed and repaired, to replace the door handle assy also.

What's really going on is the computer on your truck has been taken over by Skynet and the computer is following instructions to make certain the door doesn't close entirely. It is Skynet's desire to eliminate all sentient, biological life. The F150 isn't your friend any more, it's a pawn and minion of Skynet, just like the Terminators. lol

This is the same issue as my GF Nissan Rogue. Her doors will not properly close when it gets super cold out cause condensation freezes the lock mechanism. Temp or long-term fix. Take Silicone Grease and spray out the locking mechanism after its been warmed up. You might have to do it once a week.
